Tablescapes, Laissez le bon temps rouler!

Remember that centerpiece I had on the table in the foyer? Nothing stays the same around here too long…and I was dying to transform this into a table for an elegant evening for dining and Mardi Gras celebrating! If you missed it you can read some interesting facts about the Mardi Gras traditions by clicking here.

The first thing I did was to turn the placemats the other way and spread them out into four places.  I swapped out the fabric chairs for wooden ones. I have 4 of each and use them all in the dining room when needed or divide them between the two tables.  The black ones will go much better with this tablescape.

I added black chargers for drama, I love DRAMA!  My gold rimmed china {Casablanca by Christian Dior} perfect for this theme. You can see it used in one of my favorite tablescapes from last year, “Walk on the Wildside.”

I found some green napkins and some gold coasters…but alas, no napkin rings…hmmmmmmmmmmmmmm…..

A quick trip to my jewelry box yielded a treasure trove of possibilities!

One place got a purple beaded cuff bracelet and several earrings,

Another got a green enamel cuff, a faux diamond bracelet, and a large dangle purple beaded earring

I still didn’t love the green napkins so I decided to tuck them under the dinner plate with just the point of the napkin sticking out with the jewelry styled “napkin ring” topping the setting like a crown.

I added some Mardi Gras wine glasses

and

the place settings came together.

I removed the large glass bottle/vase and up ended some mercury glass chalice style candle holders.

This is how they looked at Christmas, with fat candles in them. I have 3 different heights which makes for interesting arrangements.

I turned them over and used them as stands for my 3 glittered balls.  I saw these ball ornaments at Hobby Lobby {50% off} right before Christmas and knew I would love having them for Mardi Gras!

I draped the chalices with beads.

I surrounded them with some decorative green glass bottles and glass orbs and ornaments.

I surrounded the glittery orbs with green glass bottles topped with baubles

My jester was front and center of course!

this is going to be a fun evening!

What would you serve for dinner?
