I saw these in the Pier 1 catalog and thought they were so cute…
They really aren’t expensive, $3 each, but still…I decided to see if I could make some…
What do you think?
It’s going to be lots of fun playing with these bunnies…
These were actually easy to make, well, OF COURSE, I guess you can tell that by looking! But let me show you the whole ugly truth…
I did a real butcher terrible job trying to cut up the paper towel roll into 8 even rings, but hey, these are rustic with the burlap and all, right? Burlap ribbon was used to make the ears and to cover the cardboard rings.
The rectangles were cut into ear like shapes and some threads were pulled out on the top and sides to make the ears look fuzzy.
This is when you should go to the craft store and buy some spray adhesive because yours is hopelessly clogged up….Notice I did not do that, little Miss Stubborn, so after a bout with Tacky glue–Tacky glue won that round–I got out my trusty masking tape and glue dots.
DO NOT be impressed that I have all these supplies on hand. It might look like I’m crafty but I am really NOT. I just collect stuff thinking I am going to someday be fabulous at it.
So being the rocket scientist the bull-headed, impatient person that I am, I went forward with masking tape. Classy Huh?
This was not a whole lot easier than the tacky glue but I won this round.
They actually didn’t look too bad and the tape was a smooth inside surface…sort of…
the ears went on with another piece of my magic tape
and I used some glue dots to secure the ends at the back.
Next a little light touch with a paint brush
I debated about spray painting these but I wanted some of the natural burlap to be visible.
With a little yarn from another project, {I can crochet better than I can craft}
the bunny whiskers were born. Three little strands of white tied in the center with pink for the bunny’s nose.
If you don’t have any yarn, Q-tips would look cute too! More Class….ha ha
The bunnies are lined up while their whiskers dried. I mastered the Tacky glue for this step….
And the bunnies are ready for the table!
I’m sure there is a better way to do this, and if I was a master crafter I would at least line the inside with fabric or ribbon… Easter is still over 3 weeks away so maybe that will happen!
Thanks so much for stopping by today, are you setting an Easter table this year? I’ve always been partial to bunnies, so they will be “hopping” all over our table~
