Creations, Crazy Bead Bowl

Elizabeth Carlton in Charleston, South Carolina creates funky ceramic masterpieces.

This is one of her vases that my niece gave me for Christmas one year.

Her signature elements are bright colors and dotted ball accents.

I was looking at her website the other day drooling over her bowls when I got an idea….a wonderful idea….why not try to make my own?

A trip to Hobby Lobby yielded a scalloped edge bowl and some large wood beads.

I had quite a few black and white beads in my craft stash, so I decided to use those for the bowl edge and paint the larger wooden beads for feet under the bowl.

I wanted to use lots of colors and patterns

Now this is not a ceramic masterpiece, but it turned out pretty cute!

  1. I love your bowl! You did a great job, and so colorful. How did you paint the bowl itself? I totally want to do one of those but have no idea about painting ceramic pieces.

  2. How fun is this!!! 🙂

    Awesome!

  4. I would never have guessed that this bowl could be made with wooden balls for the feet and embellishment! I just thought…well, I’m not sure WHAT I thought!!! 🙂 I’m not the creative, crafty type, so it’s always a big mystery to me how things come to be! Very cool!!!
