Tablescapes, Topsy, Turvy, Dotty, Swirly

After the tragedy in Boston and having been extra busy lately I was feeling a little off center the other day. I just felt like I had to get centered and refocused. I knew I had to just let go and refresh…spend some quality creative time…and then all of a sudden I had an overwhelming urge to set a table with the craziest things I could find…
Such as this little bathtub dish. Where else should you put leftover jellybeans?
I felt like doing some really zany things would show me, myself and I that I just needed to relax and unwind a little…like turning everything upside down would help things make more sense…
This little ceramic pot was made by one of my children in elementary school. It’s adorable and now it’s full of Kosher salt to be served with an itty bitty ceramic spoon. The table was covered with a dotty cloth of course, in this crazy world…
I have a large tilted pitcher, painted with chile peppers which I filled with bananas, grape tomatoes, pears and garlic…. Of course! That’s a standard pitcher filling isn’t it? At this point I was starting to feel like my table was becoming the Grinch meets Alice in Wonderland…but I was having fun and starting to feel better…
You wouldn’t want to eat these together, yuck, but the colors and shapes were so complementary…
and the colors matched my plates! The plates are anchored by a black charger and flanked with green flatware.
I got this set of 4 mix & match plates by Mud Pie as a birthday gift last year….from myself! Sometimes you just know what you want!
I put a black dotted orb into a red dotted bowl, and found an old telephone…some people won’t even know what that is!
Upended martini glasses held a “side dish” of fruit,
and a funky striped clock with wings and a heart joined the table center. Time flies when you’re having fun you know?
The red napkins are from my Christmas decor
Dots and stars are perfect any time!
These fun glasses look like they are perched on a red glass ball and they are great for a kooky beverage.
Nothing makes any sense at all! And what shall we eat at this silly table?
Pineapple Upside Down Cake of course!!!
Sometimes you just have to look at things in a different perspective…..I hope I’ve made you smile just a little today….

Jenna, this is way too much fun. Love the colors, the patterns and the touches of whimsey, all of which brighten up my day.
What a cute and whimsical table! I simply adore it! Tables can be fun!
Sometimes when the world makes no sense, it makes sense to do things that make no sense but are fun. Does that make any sense? 🙂 Out of grief rises something to put a smile on people’s faces…this is VERY creative, Jenna! (I love the pitcher’s contents!!!) It’s all kind of like Alice in Wonderland meets the minds of Johnny Depp, Gary Busey and Martha Stewart all at once! 🙂 FUN!
You always understand me, Alycia! Thank you for the sweet and understanding thoughts and comments! Hope the snow has ceased and you are enjoying a wonderful weekend! {I like the Martha Stewart reference but the Johnny Depp and Gary Busey is pretty scary!!!!} Jenna
Your table its so fun and refreshing!

Hi Jenna, yes, you absolutely put a smile on my face…from the soap holder filled with jelly beans to the upside down glasses. It all made perfect sense in this topsy turvy world we live in. Thanks for the happy table :).
