Tablescapes, Lemonade Dreams

I have a confession to make.   This is really embarrassing.   All of our everyday china has gotten pretty shabby so I bought some plates in January at Home Goods.   That is not the confession or the embarrassing part.  Nope.

I had seen this new lemon line around lately…so classic and pretty…

So when I saw these at Home Goods I got so excited!  And yep, on the back they are stamped Sur la Table.  At $3.99 each I scooped 2 up, planning lots of spring and summer settings in my head~lemons and blue birds and a new color palette to play with.  Up into the cupboard they went as I smiled and thought of the fun I would have pulling these out in a few months.

In my mind I pictured a table of bluebirds and lemons with a cool carafe of lemonade to drink

I began to set the table

Green flatwre and wait….

as I topped the dinner plate with a yellow salad plate and green decorative bowl I noticed something…someone has stolen my lemons!

Why they are not lemons at all! They are pears and onions! What!!! How can this be!!! Where are the lemons???

Sigh…so embarrassing! With my keen artist’s eye I couldn’t tell a lemon from a pear and an onion!

So maybe “life” didn’t hand me lemons

But I made lemonade anyway!

Pear, lemons, what does it matter? Nice dishes at a good price are a good find and no one will ever know you you saw lemons instead of pears.

  2. Marigene says:

Nice cheery table, even if those aren’t lemons…I am giggling…those aren’t onions, they are pomegranates, Jenna…wonder why they didn’t do them a little more reddish, they got the pears and plums the right color!
    Have a wonderful week…

    • Ok, now I’m really am embarrassed! Pomegranates! Who ever saw a yellow pomegranate?! And I thought the other things were blueberries, and now I find out they are plums?! I am going to have to go have my eyes checked! Thanks Marigene, now I know that I don’t have lemon and blueberry plates, but pomegranates, pears, and plums! Next time you see these plates in one of my posts I will try to get it right! Too funny!

  3. Thanks for the secret recipe…you know curious minds always have to know☺

Jenna, you have me laughing – not at you, but with you. This is so like something I would do. Even though they aren’t lemons, it is such bright, pretty china, and the colors are perfect for Summer dining. Your table looks so pretty. Love those little green bowls and the way all of these bright colors pop on the table. I also love your beautiful leaded glass door!

Nice dishes anyway. I must buy some more myself. I saw that some people are doing food props swaps … if only I knew other bloggers in my country!

Jenna, I’m so sorry someone stole your lemons! I’m chuckling, especially after reading Marigene’s comment 🙂 I didn’t realize they weren’t onions either until I looked closer. Lots of creative license taken with those yellow poms! I’m anxious to try the lemonade recipe and mix it with ice tea. My hubby always gets an Arnold Palmer at Chick-fil-A.

  7. Funny… funny! Totally something I would do. The plates are fabulous nonetheless. I love what you did with them. The lemonade is so fitting! xo marlis

Fun post! Haven’t we all done something like this? It just keeps us humble…
