Home Decor, Proud to be an American!

Like so many places, every year there is a  parade in our little coastal community for the 4th of July

Our house is near the finish line so we have to make sure it looks festive!

Come on in, friends often stop by after the parade

There are decorations everywhere!

The back porch is ready for action too, with lots of red, white and blue places to sit and relax~

The challenge of having a coastal home here is the salt air and storms.  The salt will ruin anything in a hurry and the wind will blow it away~

We’re in the process of making some kind of outdoor kitchen, that can withstand the elements.  Another challenge is the fact that we have to put all the furniture away and get it all out again as we come and go, especially during hurricane season.  I would love to have some completely furnished outdoor areas full of loungy sofas with bright pillows and tropical foliage….But, things have to be put away securely and plants have to be hardy and able to survive if we’re not around to water daily.   Nature provides plenty of her own beautiful things to enjoy and we try to keep things simple…

The more grills the merrier and far as the guys are concerned.  Currently they only have 3, which is a dangerously low number for them, but they do almost all the cooking when we’re here so they can have as many as they want!

It’s a work in progress so you’ll have to check back, we have lots of ideas and plans~

in fact, they went out yesterday and bought this table~I wanted a big antique farm table made out of a beautiful hunk of wood {$5000, Yikes!} but we went with the more practical solution of a $100 table from Home Depot.

It will be a great place to eat or  hang out in the shade and the breezes while the guys are busy cooking.

Wow, you make me think I need to run out and pick up a few things red, white and blue! Would you believe I have none? Looking at your photos I can see why the family enjoys this place so much.

  2. Everything looks so patriotic! Thanks for sharing!

  3. Very festive – I love the metal stars and stripes star 🙂

  4. Wait a minute. You’re telling me that table with the attached benches only cost $100 at Home Depot?!??!! Seriously, Jenna? Oh, goodness….I am going to pop in there on my way to Mom & Daddy’s house today to check them out! I assume there is assembly required, but I could probably just pay someone to do that. That picnic table would be terrific out in our yard under the old oak tree! There’s a sort of “community” picnic bench one property over, but I’d prefer to have one right smack dab in the yard with easier access. Just $100? That’s great!

I love it that you have decorated so much for the 4th! That’s neat that you guys’ house is at the end of the parade, so friends can just pop in for a cold one and a snack! Having a beach house seems like such a cool thing!!! I understand it has its challenges, but still….lots of fun!

Do you remember where you got the bunting for your decks? I can’t seem to find any fabric bunting around these parts. Just plastic which I really don’t want. We have a Colonial-style house, and bunting would look fabulous in summer!!!

I’m thinkin’ Uncle Sam is going to need to grow into that hat! 🙂

    • Yep, it was put together too! I’m going to paint it with Behr semi-transparent wood stain that is a paint and wood protector in one, and comes in colors! We figured for $100, even if we have to replace it every few years, that was a no-brainer!

    • Hey Alycia, I forgot to tell you that I got the bunting at Hobby Lobby. I’ve had it for years but they still carry it, I saw it the other day…should be 30-50% off now too! Did you get a table? Jenna

      • Hey, girl! Thank you for that on the bunting!!!!!! I will swing by there during my errands this afternoon! I hope they have some. It just looks so neat! I haven’t gotten the table yet because Ramon wants to see it first. You know how men are! I’d like to get a couple of them so that I can paint them different colors for different uses. I’m being greedy now! 🙂 Thanks for the heads up on everything!!!

  5. Everything looks great Jenna! I love the red, white and blue.

We put things away here and we are here most of the time. Missouri weather!!:-)

    Happy 4th of July!

  6. Mary says:

Love all your patriotic decor Jenna! Your signs are so fun & festive~ I’m sure you painted them, love the hurricane one 🙂 I know those guy love your grilling station for your big green egg! We have to batten down the hatches at the lake for storms which has been frequently recently, I can only imagine on the coast!

  7. Tammy says:

  9. Thanks for stopping at Quirky Vistas to leave me your thoughts on my little painted planter gift. What a beautiful home you have, and your patriotic decorations are great. Love that your town has a parade. Happy Independence day. It sounds like you’ll be celebrating in style.

Love everything you have done. You house reminded me of those we saw on Dauphin Island and then I read your About and saw your house is in Alabama.

My husband is an artist and I try to do something creative every day. Because he earns his income as an artist, he has the studio, but I do my creating in the garage or the house.

I will back to see ore of your creativity.

    • Thank you Carol, I bet the creativity flows constantly at your house with two artists in residence! I am so lucky because my husband is so supportive and lets me do anything I want even though he can’t visualize it. Do you or your husband have a website or gallery? Thanks for visiting and commenting, I look forward to your future visits. Happy creating!
      Jenna

Hi Jenna – Your beach house is amazing. I’m moving in!!! Southen Scraps – I know you called dibs first but I’m already packing the car LOL! I love everything but I think my favorite is either the little glass beach circles or the little candle beach chair. Hugs, Holly
