Tablescapes, Golden Harvest

I am participating in a white dish challenge over at Cuisine Kathleen. The rules are white dishes only and one accent color.
I am pretty sure I flunked.
I really tried…
Twice!
While I was at the beach earlier this month I decided to set the table there with my white seashell dishes and flatware
It pretty much turned blue.…click here to see the whole table
So when I got home, I thought and thought and thought about what I could use for a fall table with white dishes.
I bought 4 white dinner plates and 4 white mugs as soon as she announced the challenge weeks ago, because I really have no white anything! Besides my white wedding china, I only have 2 other white plates and that is it! I didn’t want to buy anything else new for this challenge though, and I wasn’t a bit worried that I would come up with something 1 2 3. Ha, little did I know that this would be harder than it sounded!
I found these plates and matching mugs at Home Goods. They are really nice, heavy stoneware and I loved the raised details on the plate. Some of the raised edges almost look sanded or weathered and a touch of dark peaks out.
I think we’ll enjoy using these large heavy mugs for soup this winter
The tablecloth is a yard of fabric I recently bought just because I loved it~ and will eventually make some pillows
I decided to treat the grays and silver as neutrals and to focus on gold for my one color
Silver and white pumpkins, nested in white excelsior moss, faux golden sunflowers and some candlesticks are the centerpiece
Gold chunky stemware and my grandmother’s silver goblets at each place with plates atop square silver chargers
A gold mini compote for some seasoned Alabama pecans, and a silver chair holds a golden Godiva Creme Brulee truffle for dessert
Some simple golden pumpkin shapes for place cards
and golden pumpkins for the napkins
Neither table looks very white……..I am so sorry Kathleen, I truly tried, and I did use all white dishes
Almost…
I may have failed the white dish challenge, but I enjoyed participating and trying something new and a little out of my comfort zone~
Thanks so much for looking and listening, I will admit that I am somewhat of a rule breaker when it comes to decorating…my rule is if you love it, that’s much more important than conventions…and my tables usually turn out quite differently than my original thoughts, I never know what’s going to happen, and that’s what’s fun!
The silverware [Gorham Medici] and pewter plates [Wilton] are long ago wedding presents, and I still absolutely adore them and use them all the time

[…] Golden Harvest […]
Hi Jenna – You are not a flunkie – these are both beautiful! Look forward to partying with you tonight at the challenge. Hugs, Holly
Two fabulous and excellent white challenge tables! You did great, Jenna!
No fail as far as I can see, Jenna!! Love them — especially the white, metallic, and gold! So beautiful!!
Kenley
I love the silver with fall….you don’t see that change up much anymore.
Looks like an A to me. 😉
Love the “neutrals” with the white dishes. That table cloth was a terrific find. I may need to check Home Goods and see if they have more of those dishes. They look fabulous.
Oh, Jenna, I’d hardly call your gorgeous table a failure!! Your tablecloth is a perfect background for all your neutrals, whites and gold. Lovely, lovely, lovely……. Rosie
Jenna,
your table(s) are wonderful. The silver pumpkins really catch my eye as well as your fabric and the mugs, and the plates…well, everything is beautiful. This was a little more challenging than I had expected too. LOL brain exercise….
Love, Mona
Wonderful way to set a challenge tablescape and you didn’t flunk but flourished! Your lovely tablecloth fabric is so unique and great for the background. I love your centerpiece with the silver and gold pumpkins with the sunflowers. The china your chose has a lovely embossed edge. Have a great fall week!
Pam
I’m sure the teacher will give you an A! Two wonderful white challenge tables! I love your new fabric, and can’t wait to see the pillows.
Hi Jenna~ I love your inspiration fabric for your table~ all white with only one color is hard! My plate was full this week so I missed out on the challenge. Love your adorable place card holders, complete with Creme Brulee truffle 🙂
I personally only see one other color besides white in each table!! 😉 Beige and silver are neutrals, so you’ve got my vote – and for doing two tables! I love those Home Goods plates and mugs – beautiful. The mug shape is so your style. 🙂 Great job!
Blessings,
Kim
I love the colors, love the gold, silver mix, who would have thought to mix these colors, I really like the mercury pumpkins, they are so beautiful, I will be right over for a little snack just so i can sit at this table,..
I would say you met the challenge in both tables. Love your fabric on the table with the grays and yellow in the pattern. So popular and gorgeous. Both tables are beautiful, such talents you have!
I knew I could count on you to come up with a just right table. You are getting very good at that. So it’s not all white, I like the way you have combined your various elements perfectly.
I think both of your tables are amazing……hugs, Penny
I think you did well, and I really like the gold. Both are lovely…
Jenna – that tablecloth was a fantastic starting point to this table. I love it – wow! Everything on the table is gorgeous and you did a wonderful job putting it all together!
Both of these tables are so pretty!!!
This is gorgeous, Jenna! I love that fabric you used as a tablecloth — and it gives such a modern feel to your pretty table. I think gray and yellow gold are fabulous together, and one of my mother’s patterns (Castleton Mayfair) that I covet has that color scheme.
Really beautiful! Love everything!
Okay, don’t tell anyone but this table is my absolute favorite!
Thank you! so sweet Elaine! I loved your coffee beans!
Beautiful tables, Jenna…I really like the amber one, even though aqua is my favorite color for tablescapes. The amber is like a jewel nestled in the white!
Have a wonderful week…
I think your table turned out excellent! I love that tablecloth. I also had trouble sticking to only white- I guess I flunked a bit too! At least you stuck with only white on the dishes (that’s where I blew it)! Love how you clustered the pumpkins, candlestick and sunflowers in the center.
I love the fabric you used as a tablecloth. So today and with that touch of gold for fall. Adding the silver and white pumpkins made it pop and the excelsor moss nestled in added texture. So many other embellishments showed such creativity.
I, for one, am giving you an A+! The gold touches are a beautiful soft take on Fall, and I like your tables a lot! Thanks for inviting us for a peak. Cherry Kay
Your table is beautiful, and I am glad you had fun with it. I love your mercury pumpkins. I know this was a hard one , to stay with just one additional color and the white.
Thanks for linking to Let’s Dish!
Love your table! The colours you have chosen look wonderful together and a nice twist on the usual orange for fall. I like the silver especially and could have used your mercury glass pumpkin for my t’scape! (visiting as your linky neighbour at Seasonal Sundays)

Hi Jenna, I think your table is beautiful, and as far as I can tell the gold is the only other color you used. The silver is a finish, like on the flatware. Anyhow, it is beautiful and I love it. ….Candy
I love your tablescapes. The gold & silver accents with the white are perfect for a harvest table.
Lovely table. Great cloth.

Your tablescape is stunning, I love the soft yellow and gray and your setting and centerpiece are gorgeous. Beautifully done. Thanks for linking to Inspire Me. Hugs, Marty
Simply beautiful!
Jenna, I love the white and silver! It’s very refreshing and is such a nice twist on the whole pumpkin thing. I’m always looking for something different than the typical orange and I think you did a great job!
Jenna, I like both tables, they show how talented you are “Staying on Task” to quote my son’s third grade teacher. The silver and white with orangy accents is gorgeous. The silver pumpkin is probably a treasured purchase. Although the overall look is refined, the large mugs on the final table, make it look casual enough for a chili and cornbread fall evening meal. Brilliant!
Of course I love the blue and white pumpkin beach theme, which is so reminiscent of a hayride on the beach (is there such a thing?). Have a great weekend!
Hardly flunked!! I think it is an A. I love this elegant table. The gray is a neutral, just like white, so your beautiful orange is perfect for one color!!
Of course I always love the blue tables for the beach. Yummy!
You have passed with flying One color! The golden accent colors are so beautiful. I love the fabric you used for the pattern raises this to an elegant level!
Please, come visit my post Lemon Zest this week!
Have a great weekend!
Pam
Thanks Pam!
Love, Love, Love your fall tablescape and the color palette that you chose! The colors are so pretty together and the mercury glass pumpkin just adds the finishing touch! Thansk for sharing.
Blessings,
Lanita
Thanks Lanita!!
So pretty!!! I love the softness of your tablescape! The silver pumpkins are so elegant! 😉
Thank you!
Great Table!!!
You did a fabulous job. Don’t think otherwise!
Thanks Jackie, this was an old post from 2013, I totally forgot I was yacking about the white dish challenge, I just remembered I really liked the table and thought I would reshare 🙂
