Tablescapes, Feelin’ Witchy?

Welcome!

DSC_2349

There’s a small gathering of witches here this evening

Don’t mind Casper Jr. over there, he just thinks he’s scary

as does little Miss “Boo-Hoo!”

The witches will be arriving soon, but I can show you around in the meantime~Come on in!

The table in the foyer is ready for a seance or two

I have a little confession to make~ there is a shady part of my past~

DSC_2260

One of my cousins researched our family tree some years ago

DSC_2260

The finished tree/chart is hanging right here near the table.  That is me at the very bottom near the arrow.

DSC_2262

In the very center of the tree are my fraternal grandparents and the triangle, bottom center, features my father and all his siblings and their descendants.  The rest of the circle radiates through time, backwards to some interesting discoveries~

She uncovered some royal ancestors, some Mayflower passengers and…

A Witch!  Yikes!  Actually hung in Salem Massachusetts in 1692!

There it is, my shameful secret.  Poor thing, she was probably just some crazy funky artista, ahead of her time!  Terrible!

DSC_2097

I do seem to have an affinity for witches though, but I like the cute nice ones!

So to celebrate witches, I thought I’d honor them with a special Halloween table!

The chandelier turned into a giant witch hat!

I cut the edges and created a few rows of fringe

I have another little secret, this one not so shameful, I bought these plates this summer, how could I resist~

they were supposed to be dinner size, but I was only disappointed for a half a second because they so cute!

The set only had 4 so I used my 2 skeleton plates for the places at the table ends

Witches enjoy a good book

especially about them,

I think we’re ready for quite a witchy night!

HI Jenna – Love the tablescape and polka dots – so much fun! And very cool about learning about your ancestors – witch and all! Hugs, Holly

  2. Fabulous family tree chart! Perhaps my ornery little indentured servant ancestor met your Mayflower ancestor. I heard he was quite a “character” even at the age of 6 when he made the voyage.LOL
Love the witches and your table, Jenna!

  3. Liz Mackie says:

All nice decorations. Thank you. Have a great weekend!

Love all your bewitching touches, including your chandy hats Jenna! Those plates are adorable with the little figures on them! You have been conjuring all kinds of ghosts, owls and witches for Halloween, I bet your grandson is Halloween heaven. How fun to be able to go back that far for your family tree too, royal ancestors, Mayflower passengers and a witch!

  5. Such fun and cute decorating!! And yeah… chances are pry about 95% that your ancestor was merely a strong, independent woman that dared to speak her mind. 🙂

What a fabulous post, Jenna! I’ve been on your blog forever – just scrolling up and down and down and up, taking in all of the fun Halloween décor – from the yard, to the front door, the entry, to the dining table – it’s all wonderful! Oh, and I can’t forget your family tree revealing that shameful secret! How fun that is. Your creativity is really showing in all of your décor, but there is so much imagination used on this tablescape that I can’t get enough of it. Love all of the burlap; love the chair decorations; love those burlap ghosts; love your new H’ween plates. Oh heck, I love all of it! Going back for another look and to decide what I want to pin. laurie

  8. Your home and table are just amazing! Your photos should be in decorating magazines! WOW! I love the burlap witch and ghosties! Everything is FUN and fabulous! Enjoy the holiday!

  9. Ok I’m in love…when can I come in?…I’m fascinated by your decor Jenna and the fact that one of your ancestors was a witch..wow how cool is that?!!! Thank you so much for sharing. If you don’t mind me asking, where did you find the colorful plates in orange and gray? love them! Have a great week, Lizy

  10. Marty@A Stroll Thru Life says:

Wow a real witch in the family, perfect for Halloween. I absolutely love all of your decor, so pretty and your tablescape is unreal. Love it all. Thanks for linking to Inspire Me. Hugs, Marty

  11. Brenda Young says:

Love your home tour, so many great things. But the piece de la resistance is the family tree! Did your cousin do that on his/her own or was it printed up somewhere? I would love to have that done!

    • I’m not really sure how she did it, she must have used a service that plugged info into a chart type form, because some of the older spaces are blank. Unfortunately she is no longer living so I can’t ask her. She made it in 1997 so I bet there is tons more ways available today. My daughter has been researching my husbands family on ancestry.com and has had a lot of luck with that site. Thanks for visiting and good luck!

  12. Marianne L says:

I love what you’ve done with the place! Thanks for sharing!

  13. April says:

  14. Totally cute- everything inside and out! Love the tables and all your witches…. isn’t that something about your ancestry and one being hung! Gees…I’m glad our world isn’t like that anymore! Your chandelier hat is so creative- love it!

  15. Ann K says:

You have some of the cutest Halloween accessories!! Those plates remind me of the old cartoons that would have the spinning circles and play that funky sound to make you dizzy!!

  16. phyllis says:

  18. Diane says:

Oh my goodness – a real witch in the family???? How fantastic – much more interesting, than some of my ancestors! Your do find the cutest things for you tables. The chandelier is adorable and the plates and accessories are adorable. Another fantastic post!!

  19. how wonderful! I love the family tree salem connection, and that first pic with the witch hats on the chandelier! supremely spooky in there!

  20. lulu says:

I’m feeling downright withy tonight so I’d fit in perfectly with all your spooktacular decor! I love the polka dots on the table! I hope you are going to have lots of company to share your table.

  21. Sarah says:

No witches in my past (that I know of), but a gaggle of good witches reside here. They venture out about this time of year. In fact, they are hosting a picnic in the hood. ‘-)
Cute details on your table. Love the special effects on the chandy and chairs.

  22. Love, Love you table. The dishes, goblets, everything is so fun. I can tell you put a lot of thought and work into this “Witchy” table.
    xoGinger

  23. Pamela says:

What fun Halloween decor you have. Love the little witchy hats on the chancy. Also love your Family Tree. I just started tracing ours back and it is so very fascinating to me.

  24. Marigene says:

Love your festive table, Jenna…especially the witches! Those salad/dessert plates are great.
    Have a wonderful week…

  25. Maria says:

Oh, my gosh! Love those salad plates! How do you store them so the little figurine doesn’t get broken? Love, love them! You have a beautiful home!

  26. Jacqueline says:

What a fabulous witchy post! Your table is stunning and I love all of your details. I always cover my chairs for Christmas but I haven’t for Halloween! Maybe I will have to give that a try!!
How interesting to have someone from Salem – what a sad part of our history that one is but to have someone in your family line who was actually killed is super sad.
I love your family chart. My cousin was supposed to be making mine up (years ago I bought it in a family auction) so I better nag her again.
Now I feel so behind in my decorating! Yikes – I better get out my broomstick!!

    • Thanks Jacqueline, this table was actually from last year, I can’t do Halloween too early, I get tired of all the clutter! I am sure your Halloween decor will be incredible once you get out your broomstick!

  27. Bev says:

    So cute…loving the chandelier!
