Creations, Burlap Angels

I really wasn’t planning to do anymore burlap creations…or wine bottle creations…but since I still had so much burlap from my recent hoarding stocking up, and there is an occasional wine bottle around here… they just sort of appeared

Singing!

These Christmas picks were my inspiration

In my strange artistic mind they looked like angel wings to me….hmmmm…

You need some strong and sticky tape, like this package sealing tape

DSC_3092

and tape them to the back of the bottle near the rim

DSC_3088

To cut a straight edge on burlap pull a string out and use that as your channel for cutting

DSC_3089

Cut rectangles 18″ x 24″.  This seems like a lot of burlap but in order for it to cover the whole bottle and poof out it needs to be ample.  Pull a few threads to fringe the edges.  This is the really fun part, I love to pull those strings!

DSC_3094

I just waded up a piece of tape and stuck it into the rim of the bottle to hold the head but glue it if you prefer

DSC_3095

I used round wooden craft beads and painted pink cheeks

Next a stint at the hair salon

DSC_3096

I gave the angels a few curls with a glue dot

Now she’s ready for her halo

DSC_3098

Fashion a halo out of a gold pipe cleaner and tape it between her “wings”

DSC_3099

To make her gown fold over the top edge [the long 24″ side of the rectangle] about an inch.  This is going to be her “collar” that covers up the bottle neck.  Wrap the folded edge around the bottle top, gathering and pleating with your fingers while holding it tightly.

DSC_3100

This is where you will start swearing at me thinking negative thoughts but hang in there! Grab a silver pipe cleaner with your third hand, you do have one for these situations, right?  Wrap the pipe cleaner tightly around the bottle just under the fold and twist tightly

DSC_3101

Now  attach another silver pipe cleaner to the back using the previous one to twist it onto

DSC_3102

This pipe cleaner will wrap around to form her arms and hands

DSC_3103

So she can hold her song book!

Print out some music [the Graphics Fairy] and then glue it on a piece of card stock to make a “book”

Some of the angels have their arms spread wide as they sing their joyful songs
