Take-out Tuesday, Iron Bowl Tears

I had planned to share an appetizer with you today called Tiger Meltdown Dip

DSC_3202

On Saturday the table was set for the most important game of the year, the Iron Bowl

DSC_4609

In the Man Cave, the pool table was turned into a game day buffet

We were ready for the big game,

and friends and family were coming over

The Iron Bowl is possibly the most heated rivalry in football, 2 teams from the same state, battling for a year’s worth of bragging rights, and this year, a third consecutive National Championship for Alabama was on the line

Football is a religion in this state, and every fan has their creed

And you better wear your colors and show your spirit proudly!

We had a little orange and blue for the few Auburn guests attending, you know at the far end of the table…

We tried to keep things fair and balanced [sort of]  serving “War Eagle Wings” and “Champion Chicken” [BBQ chicken wings]

There were “Tiger Tail Bites” [grilled smoked sausage]

and “Bama Bites”   [Chick Fil-a nuggets]

The media said Alabama would win by more points than predicted~

But Alabama fans know, that all logic goes out the window at the Iron Bowl, and anything can happen

DSC_3194

Like Alabama loosing Saturday to their arch rival, Auburn….against the odds…

DSC_3193

Auburn won the game with a missed field goal run back with 1 second on the clock, creating the most unbelievable win in the history of football…even any sports event ever….or so many are saying…

DSC_3194

Sigh…and just like that, the Tiger Meltdown Dip I mentionedwell, it turned right into Iron Bowl Tears…

It is going to be a long 12 months before we have a chance to reclaim those bragging rights!

  1. If there’s one thing I’m familiar with, it’s the heartbreak of a sporting loss… I do love your fun set up for the party though:@)

Jenna, I’m a Seminole so you can’t imagine how disappointed I am that Alabama lost as I was so looking forward to a matchup with the tide for the national championship. Except for the loss, it was an amazing game.

  3. What a FANTASTIC table! I watched that game solely because the winner is going to play the Missouri Tigers, the team that I support. Wow, what a heart breaker for Alabama fans. I guess what makes it worse is seeing the ending over and over again on all forms of media. I’ve been on the winning (World Series 2011) and losing (World Series 2013) end, so I feel for you.

    • Thanks Pattie! You will have lots of Alabama fans routing for your Missouri Tigers if you do indeed play Auburn, that’s for sure!! Yes, it is really hard to see it over and over and it’s going to be brutal for the next year!! Good luck!

  4. Losing is the pits, although you don’t get that feeling often being an Alabama fan! Love the decor!

  5. Kim says:

I am sure my step father is quite upset over it too since he attended Alabama and is a die hard fan.

  6. Mary says:

Jenna, I was thinking about you, wondering if you were crying in your beer or margarita on game day. What an unbelievable play and painful to watch on the Alabama side. Your table is so festive and fun, love all clever your app names. So sorry your Tiger Meltdown Dip became Ironbowl Tears 🙂

  7. I love your enthusiasm, and you decorations were wonderful. Better luck next year.

  8. Looks delicious! Sorry about the game…but at least you had good food to get through it with! http://thepaintedapron.com/2013/12/03/take-out-tuesday-iron-bowl-tears/

  9. Miz Helen says:
