Home Decor, Decisions to make~

We’re on the coast this weekend, checking on the little remodel
Things are moving along
I did a quick look around and then had to enjoy the magical light just before sundown
Our porch is my very favorite place to be. It was cold but the wind had stopped and the water was glass
Just don’t turn around
Not quite the ambiance we usually enjoy! But it will be beautiful again soon~
We’re replacing the original siding with Hardi Plank, it looks like wood but is made with recycled materials and is a great product for hurricane zones.
Unfortunately, the polar vortex made it as far South as the gulf coast
All my little palms are history, so sad. We learned a long time ago that you pay a price for coastal life, but it’s worth everything that Mother Nature puts you through~
We were hoping to see the new rooms framed up but it was so cold on the north side of the house they had to start on the back side which is protected from the wind
The new little bedroom and bath will be tucked into part of the front porch, and the window will become a door
It should be framed by mid week. It would be helpful if the cold air would stay where it belongs in the North, the crew couldn’t even work yesterday it was too cold!
Do you like this tile?
It is crazy cool~ very 3-D!
I have to figure out the lighting this weekend, sconces or a light over the mirror? I guess I need to pick out the mirror…What do you think, driftwood?
shells ?
cutesy?
rattan?
sunburst?
I have bought the sink and designed the vanity that is being custom built. Sounds fancy schmanncy doesn’t it? It’s not. My son is building the vanity. It is going to be as cool as the tile! I hope…I think…I’m pretty sure…
It’s challenging when you’re not on site everyday, but my contractor texts me photos and keeps me posted. He is a neighbor and good friend and he rebuilt our house after Hurricane Ivan. I totally trust him and he can do anything. So I hope this continues to zip along so I can get back to the important stuff~
Watching sunsets…
I’d love to hear what you think about the mirrors~

I will be joining these fabulous parties and blogs:
Sounds wonderful Love the shells, driftwood and sunburst! Think any would be adorable. Can’t wait to see the finished product. We had a visit from that same polar vortex here across the lake from New Orleans. Seems we lost quite a lot of plants too. Looks like we will both be replanting this spring. Just hope my fairly new Meyer lemon tree survives. Even though we covered plants they aren’t looking too good. Think we have round two coming again this Tuesday. Good luck with the progress and the weather.
Thanks so much for your input! Sorry about your plants, I would love to have a Meyer lemon tree, hope it’s okay. I hope February puts an end to all this deep freeze in the South!
I like the rattan!
Thanks Deb!

Totally love the driftwood. Whatever you choose will be awesome, love the tile as well. xoxoGinger
Thanks so much Ginger!
Love love love the sunburst…and the rattan.
We are out and about today, because…apparently this is the pick day of the week, with highs around 50. Going for a drive and stopping at JoAnn Fabric :-). Molly is even going along for the ride. The snow is finally all gone…for now.
I do appreciate your comment Pat, you have such good taste~
The tile is great! Love all the mirror choices. The cutesy or shutters has my vote. As Savannah Granny stated, whatever you choose will be awesome. 🙂
Thanks Linda, I really appreciate your feedback!
Sorry about your plants. We used to live in Key Largo and had weather like that once. Believe it or not, a few of the palms made a miraculous come back. Keep your fingers crossed. 🙂
thanks Karen, I have had sago palms come back before but these look pretty toasted! thanks for the positive thoughts!
They are all nice, but maybe I like the driftwood a little better. It will all come together for you and look beautiful. Take your time!

Thanks Liz, my hubs likes the driftwood too~he keeps asking why I need a mirror when the room isn’t even built yet!
Today is warmer in Bham, so maybe it will be there, too. I like the sunburst, but I couldn’t say for sure without seeing the vanity, etc. Love the tile.
Yes, my problem is I like them all too! Thanks so much for your input~
Oh squeal, I am a bit envious of your wonderful spot by the water. Difficult choices on the mirrors I like them all. I think I would be torn between the starfish and the port hole that reads beach house. xo
How wonderful you have a contractor you trust Jenna. Staring at the beautiful water with a glass of wine in hand helps with the decision making I’m sure 🙂 We stayed at the Bohemian Hotel in Savannah a couple of years ago, they had the most beautiful oyster shell fixtures throughout the hotel… sconces, mirrors, chandies, perfect for a beach or coastal home. Hope it warms up for you workers.
Ohhh oyster shell fixtures, hadn’t thought of that! Thanks Mary!
Love your spot by the water! your home is going to be great when it’s done. Such a perfect spot! I personally like the driftwood sunburst mirror, to me it says I can go anywhere when you want to change things up and move them around. And it’s timeless, not “crafty”.
Great advice, Christine, I love to move things around! I will probably buy that one anyway and use it somewhere because I just love it! Thanks~
Love that tile!! I think I vote driftwood for the mirror. Pry cause driftwood is one of my absolute favorite things about the beach! 🙂
Kenley
Thanks Kenley, I love it too, I keep thinking I should be scouring the beach to make my own~but I’m not that patient! My husband loves the driftwood too~
ohhh the ocean and sand look dreamy…where do you live? thanks for leaving me a comment on my Mudroom. I tried to reply directly to your comment via email, but you came up as a Non Reply Blogger. xxoxo Christine from Little Brags
Thanks Christine, I don’t know how to fix the non reply blogger thing~ the photos are from our getaway spot in Orange Beach Al, where there is a 100% chance of snow today!! Unheard of. We live in Birmingham which is even colder this am, 21, but only a 50% chance of snow. I HATE cold weather, I am going to stay cozy and cook all day! Thanks for the visit~
OH, my gosh, Jenna, that tile is beautiful, and it’s so YOU! Thanks for sharing what’s going on at your beautiful home. I love renos! Anyway, my first choice was going to be the drift wood mirror. But after a second look, the light and airy feel and the texture of the starfish give a nice contrast to the heavy, smooth tile. (I personally would choose the shutters, but that isn’t YOUR style.) The tile color is gorgeous, and the white shells would be a beautiful contrast, too. From what I’ve seen of your tablescapes, I think you must like contrast. I’m excited to see everything when you’re finished. I know it will be fabulous and fun! Sorry about your plants…brace yourselves for round two!
Thanks so much Kim, actually the shuttered one is my favorite! I wish I had taken a photo of it closed, it looks so cute! I almost bought it but it was so $$$ that I wanted to look in Bham first. They aren’t working today or tomorrow, because of the SNOW predicted, are you in the path of this crazy storm? Stay warm!
We are too far north, but we did get a little powder this morning. It is just so cold!! Hey, have you checked TJ Maxx and Tuesday Morning for a mirror? Their prices always seem to fit my pocket book, and they have great stuff. I’m surprised but glad you like the shutter mirror. 😉
Oh my goodness, I can’t get past that fabulous view of being on the water. I think the mirrors are all wonderful. Thanks tons for linking to Inspire Me. Hugs, Marty
So much inspiration in this post 🙂 I absolutely love the tiles… they look like the water moving around. How perfect for a beach house!
PS – What an awesome mermaid glass.
Gotta vote for the driftwood mirror. Found it funny that I can see one of my former condos in one of your pics. We had a corner unit in the Winddrift complex on Ole River…we also had a house on Ono for three years. Love the view that you have from your home. My hubs office is at San Roc.
Blessings,
Linda
Thanks Linda~my husband likes the driftwood too~I wish you were still at the Winddrift!
Oh how nice! Cold or not it must be nice to be on the water like that. I think a driftwood mirror would be great- but I guess it depends on the other things in the room. I hope it warms up for you. I’m stuck in the north in the cold for a while longer. We’re used to it though so I know it’s hard on you if your not.
Thanks for your input Liz, driftwood seems to be the most popular! Stay cozy~
