This table is for my son, the “chef.” He is always cooking for us, and loves to help me with the blog too…”you should blog this Mom~” The least I could do is set a table in his honor!
The centerpiece is made of dish towel roses and utensil stems
A chef ornament hangs from the chandelier
Open cookbooks line the table runner
They are open to recipes I know he’d like
At one end of the table is a tray of finishing salts to choose from
At the other end is a basket of fresh vegetables and the menu
We’re having some of his very favorite things
The white plates on the side are designed especially for artichokes, with the center well to hold the artichoke and a smaller well on the side for sauce. The remaining trough is for discarding the leaves. We are avid artichoke eaters, my mom gave me these plates years ago
I know we will have a lively meal at this table!
If you’d like the recipes for the Menu listings, just click on their titles below
Artichokes with Dreamy Lemon Sauce
Grilled Romaine Salad with Shallot Orange and Bleu Cheese
BBQ Salmon with Ryan’s Secret Sauce
Butterscotch Tiramisu Cheesecake
Tomorrow I will show you how to make a weathered painted pot like the one I used for the centerpiece, no skills required!

Fun table Jenna and the menu sounds mouth watering! Aren’t you glad you have a foodie for a son?! My MIL is always on the look out for things and recipes I should blog about too 🙂
Such a cute table, and how lucky to have a son with cooking talents!! The menu sounds delicious and where did you find those artichoke plates? I’d love to get a set, as my family loves artichokes, too. Rosie @ The Magic Hutch
Thanks Rosie, I’ve had the artichoke plates forever, but I googled them and saw they are available on ebay and at replacements.com. Hope you find some, they are wonderful to have!
I love it, Beautiful chef’s table with oodles of inspiration. I love the flatware on the cutting board. What a great idea!
What a clever way to honor the “chef” and make a great tablescape. Cute ornament on the chandy and a delicious menu. Adorable centerpiece idea……..

Thanks so much Liz~
Ramon and I were just talking day-before-yesterday about what artichokes must taste like! We eat them marinated from the jar (Costco), but have never had one freshly prepared. Man…they even make special plates for them?!?!?!! That’s something else!!!
It’s so sweet for you to build a tablescape that showcases your son’s love of cooking! Really neat idea to use the open cookbooks and utensils as a part of the centerpiece!
Grilled Romaine salad??!?!? You grill the Romaine lettuce? How does THAT work????!? I really need to branch out a bit! 🙂
You can’t believe the flavor that grilled romaine has! You and Ramon will just have to stop by and let me make these dishes for you!
What a wonderfull table! I wanted to come over when I saw it. THEN when I saw the menu I started packing the car! what fun
Thanks Cathy! Come on over!
Jenna…I am absolutely in love with your blog! I love the diversity and you are so creative! What a beautiful table setting. Your son must have loved it! I can certainly feel the sentiment behind it. And what a great menu…especially that butterscotch tiramisu cheesecake! : )
Thanks so much Anne, so glad you stopped by!
How fun is this, I love it and what a fabulous idea to honor a chef. Thanks tons for linking to Inspire Me. Hugs, Marty
Really loving this tablescape!! It would be perfect for so many occasions and people! 🙂
Great ideas, as always, Jenna! I’ve never seen artichoke plates, but now I’ll now what they are if I see any in a store. 🙂 It’s neat that your son cooks, too!
Blessings!
Kim

My husband is my “chef” and you’ve inspired me to set a tribute table to him. Love your clever use of the open cookbooks down the runner. Love the menu choices too. We love to eat artichokes.
Love this table! What a great way to honor a chef…super idea.
So sweet to honor your son. Love the artichoke plates. It reminds me that I have some that I haven’t used in ages.
