Creations, Wedding Welcome Bags

One of my BFF’s sons is getting married in a few weeks and instead of hosting a party she asked me to put my creative hat on and do her welcome bags.

I was thrilled! She is a an artist herself and very laid back and said “just go where ever your mind takes you…”

The bride has chosen sort of a blush rose pink as her theme color~

I started with a photo of hot pink roses that I had in my photo library and tried in with the Waterlogue app [iphone/ipad]

Waterlogue

and with Saturation Color in  Pic Monkey

blush rose

I tried several photos, and different colored bags

and finally chose a photo and technique that I created using hand tint in Pic Monkey because it had the color and softness I wanted

hand tint rose

I printed them out 2 to a page and trimmed them with scalloped edged scissors

I made the labels on Pic Monkey too, by picking design and selecting the label I wanted and playing with it until I liked it

I kept them transparent and bought some pink dotted paper to print them on.

I cut lengths of ribbon

folding the edges and cutting it on the diagonal, creating finished edges as I went

Buy plenty, you can always return what you don’t need

And if you have a Hobby Lobby or Michaels nearby ALWAYS check their weekly ribbon prices, ribbon is 50% off at Hobby Lobby every other week.

I was starting to feel very bridal!

ready for assembly!

I wanted to use an eclectic mix of textures, and I wanted it to feel bridal and pretty, but a little rustic as the wedding is on a horse farm out in the country.

Spray adhesive makes quick work of this, but be careful, this stuffy is sticky.  I used thick paper towels to lay the burlap ribbon strips on to spray

I used Tacky Glue to secure the rose photos

and then went back with the spray adhesive for the labels so they would lay flat on top of the floral paper

Once everything was glued down I topped each bag with a book to keep things nice and flat while the glue completely dried, only an hour or so.

My friend is filling the bags so I am delivering them to her flat, with some tissue tucked inside

DSC_4578

This meant separating and refolding each sheet of tissue, which was kind of a pain, but it will be so easy to fill and fluff the bags

ready for the final touches

I hope she likes them!

  2. Those are beautiful.. I’m sure the bride will drop a tear at the beauty of them and the fact that you created them just for her

  3. These are absolutely wonderful, Jenna! Gorgeous!!

Smart friend to ask you to take over the creative duties. I know she wasn’t disappointed with the result.

What a great friend you are to do this! Are these bags given with a favor in them at the wedding?

What beautiful bags you created Jenna! I love the combination of ribbon, label and your watercolored photo you chose. I know your friend and the couple-to-be will be thrilled! I get sucked into the Waterlogue-time vortex and it’s hard to put my iPad/phone down 🙂

these are beautiful! I love the combination of rustic and romantic. thanks for the tutorial. I am just learning how to use Waterlogue and PicMonkey, so this gives me some great ideas! Your friend will be very happy, I’m sure!

  8. These are wonderful Jenna!! They will love them! Welcome bags are such a wonderful touch for the guests — makes them feel special right from the get-go, plus offering important information, etc. 🙂

I love this…and you made it look so easy! I love your colors and your idea selections…great job and thanks for sharing on the Thursday Blog Hop! There are many occasions I can think of why a personalized gift bag would be so special!

  11. Those are gonna be some happy camper guests for that wedding!!! You did a TERRIFIC job, chick! I mean REALLY terrific!!! I’m always so shy about doing labels and stuff like that. I have no idea how to cut them out straight unless it’s totally straight lines. I have a big ol’ paper cutter for that.

Adding the burlap was a great touch! And hey…I forgot all about Elmer’s spray adhesive until I just saw the photo here. Doggone it….I could have been using that stuff all along! I have some in the hall closet that I completely forgot about!

Have a great rest of the week and a fantabulous weekend!
