Tablescapes, Easter Egg Hunt
The sun was peeking out through the clouds, the birds were singing and the thermometer was inching past 70
I couldn’t wait to play with some Easter things outside
I set up an Easter table for Big E and CC
My grass is just barely coming up
It’s not quite time for an Easter egg hunt
but who cares, it’s a great day to be outside!
I am trying to figure out how to do an Easter egg hunt with a 6 year old, a 2 year old and a 1 year old
The oldest one will want to grab everything or else show the little ones where the eggs are
Are you experienced in Easter egg hunts?
I would love some advice!
I used to make my children dye eggs in their underwear because I am such a OCD neat freak so they wouldn’t ruin their clothes!
I think Super Boy is going to think he is too grown up to sit at this table
But, just in case
I can set it for 3
I bought 3 Easter plates and cups at Target last spring when CC was just born, thinking of the Easter fun we could have this year~

Such a fun tablescape you have for the little ones. Love the chargers and that cute little vase. While dying eggs, just have them wear an apron or paint smock. I think I always had mine wearing your Easter pj’s….that’s because I am a picture person 🙂

Hi Jenna, I love the adorable Easter tablescape for the little ones, gorgeous settings (especially love the painted grapevine chargers). I have one outgrowing his little table too. I’ll keep it to set mini tablescapes. You’ve inspired me to pull out the Easter bunnies and chicks……………….

Some ideas for the hunt: One good idea is to “hide” some bright eggs in very obvious places (for the 1 and 2 year old) and some in more challenging places and at a 6 y/o eye level for the older child. Then give the little ones a head start of 10 or so minutes before the 6 year old starts on her hunt. It also helps to have an adult walk along with the 1 and 2 year old helping them. Best thing: Have a camera ready!!
How completely adorable this is, Jenna! I love how you painted the “nests” blue, and the bunny masks are so fun for the kids. I’m drooling over the egg topiary, too. 🙂
What an adorable table! I remember when my kids were little and they dyed eggs…oh the mess! Now if I had known about using onion skins to dye them brown….I’d have told them it was the new fad! lol

I have zero experience in Easter egg hunts beyond those I used to participate in as a kid. THAT, of course, was eons ago, so I don’t remember much. I always took my son to organized hunts at community centers or churches, so I never had to do it myself. Sorry! Wish I could be of more help! Maybe if you dye the eggs certain colors and tell each child what color is theirs to look for. Hmmmmm….that might not work for the littlest ones, I guess. Geez, I don’t know. Good luck!

What I always do because the kids are so far apart in age is to assign a color egg that they are to find. The older boy has to find the green/blue eggs and the little girl has to find the pink/purple eggs. That way you can make the older childs a little harder to find. This has work for me (we use plastic eggs with appropriate aged treat inside) Hope this helps

Your little table settings are adorable! I saw a post that suggested telling each child they had to look for a color, like blue, or green etc. so that they wouldn’t try to collect them all and short change the others. I suppose you could put a number on them too to get the same thing across. Have fun!
Jenna, the McK-C dishes make a perfect Easter setting. Clever! It’s fun to anticipate the joy that your little grands will have celebrating at this darling table. I’m not a mom, so don’t have a lot of experience in egg hunts. I did read an idea recently that sounded like a good one. Hide equal # of eggs of specific colors and each child can only pick up their color of eggs. That way everyone ends up with equal eggs in their basket and the disappointment is eliminated. Your 6 year old can help the little ones find their colors and put them in the appropriate basket.
