Creations, New Life for an Old Bench, Paint, shells and sea glass

This 12 year old bench is very sentimental to me

It is just a $100 bench from a big box store that we had to assemble

Two very special people painted it blue for me after it had been out in the weather for a few years

It survived Hurricane Ivan and Katrina

It resides on our front porch, and is looking really sad and shabby since we’ve been spiffing up the place~

I asked HH to move it to the back porch so I could do a little work on it while I was gazing at the sea…

Time for a little face lift!

I had a big can of Annie Sloan gray chalk paint, but that just wasn’t speaking to me… but my little sample jar of ASCP Florence was… People think chalk paint is expensive, but not me, you can get a lot of mileage out of a sample jar and I have used this paint on wood, metal, silver, painted surfaces, all with great results and fast application

A semi-dry brush stroke here and there, and this little bench perked right up, with still a lot of the original blue showing through

Perhaps some shells, sea glass  and a bauble or two~

I got out a variety of things and played around a little.  I try not to over think things and just go with my first instinct

Masking tape is your best friend here

It will hold everything in place until the glue dries.

I used E6000 glue.  I use this for everything, it is amazing stuff.  Salt air is the ultimate test of anything so I’ll let you know how it fares~

Okay, off to its place by the front door~

I will have lots of fun with this bench

making it “purdy” for guests….

We started calling our little coastal cottage Club Meon years ago, our little version of Club Med, haha, so I thought it would be fun to paint the name on the bench

It is a bright spot of welcome by the front door

It’s not the sturdiest thing anymore so I’ve got to keep a lot of stuff on it

So nobody actually sits on it!!       😉

Well, that didn’t take long, hmmmm….I’m going to need something else to fix up….

E6000 is available at craft stores such as Hobby Lobby and Michaels
