The Organized Life, Add an App to your iPhone

The other day I was at the grocery store and decided I wanted to make some Apple Pie Fries~ to check the recipe to make sure I had all the ingredients, I just tapped the Painted Apron app on my phone

Do you know how to add an app to your iPhone  or iPad home screen for any website you access frequently?

painted apron app

To make an app, open the website you want using Google or Safari

home page

Once the website is open, go down to the bar across the bottom and you will see a row of icons

arrow button

Touch the center icon, the blue square with the arrow pointing up

home screen add button

This will open open an option screen, with mail, message, air drop etc.  On the bottom row, in the center you will see a square within a square with a plus sign inside that says add to home screen

gravatar

Tap on this and it will open a page with a picture of the icon for the website, the website address, and a prompt asking you if you want to add this to your home screen

add button

On the upper right of screen tap Add and the icon will go to the next available spot on your home screen

The app for the Painted Apron is my gravatar photo, a cupcake painting

Once it’s on your home screen, tap it to open.  At the top of the screen is a blue bar with menu on the left and search on the right

home page

If you tap menu

menu 2

a display will open listing all the categories seen on the header of my website.  Scroll down to Recipes and tap on that

recipes

This opens an alphabetical list of all the recipes by category.  This is a good way to browse quickly too, for instance if you want to make an appetizer or need a dinner idea, you can quickly look through the recipe titles, access the recipe you want to make,  and get the ingredients while you are out

Once you find what you want, tap on the title

The post where the recipe is found will open up

Or  you can click Search on the right side of the blue bar, if you’re not sure of the recipe title

search 2

touch the arrow pointing to the right on the center band

search access arrow

it will open up options such as follow blog etc.  Scroll about half way down page until you see the search box under “What are you looking for?”

search box

Enter the recipe key words such as apple fries

Handy!!  This works for any website you want to have quick access to, so you can have an app for anything!

To make one for the iPad, the method is the same, but the icons are in different places.  Here is my iPad home screen

Again, use google or Safari to open up the website you want

Look for the blue square with the arrow in the upper left corner and tap on it

A drop down icon menu will appear.  Click on the square within a square with the + sign in the middle of the bottom row

Click on the blue Add and the icon for the new app will automatically appear in the next available space on your home screen.  The website works on the iPad just like on your computer

If you don’t want to make an app, you can always access my site through your web browser and access the recipes just like you would from your computer
