Creations, Crazy Christmas Trees
I know, it’s still October, but getting a head start on the holidays is never a bad idea. I have already had orders for New Years glasses and Mardi Gras! So here’s a few crazy Christmas trees to get you thinking holiday and some stunning photos of October coastal skies…
I saw this little tree last weekend and wanted to share it with you~driftwood stacked into a tree shape and topped with a star fish!
Isn’t this an awesome idea! It was on the porch of the Coastal Arts Center in Orange Beach Alabama
This beautiful spot backs up to the bay and has a gallery, art and pottery studios, and a huge park-like lawn for art events
Hot Glass Studio where glass is blown into amazing creations and you can buy, watch or take a class
There is nothing prettier than glass sparkling in the sun
The native trees are graceful beauties dripping with Spanish Moss
This is the perfect spot for art shows and festivals [psst…on Friday this will be full of spooky scarecrows!]
The grasses were in full bloom and the day began with the most amazing sunrise
We watched the clouds turn pink…
the lines of light you see across the center of photo are the lights on the bridge that connects our residential island to the main key. This whole area is made up of a group of islands linked together with bridges
The day came alive in a burst of color and the clouds turned into cotton candy
Sunset was pretty spectacular too~
Winter is just around the corner now and I won’t be going to the coast as often, sniff, but Christmas crafts are sure to cheer me up! If I only had a big pile of driftwood….
You can make a tree out of just about anything, like this Accidental Christmas Tree here, made with broken painted glassware from my studio
How about a gumdrop tree, seen on Easy Christmas Decor Ideas here, just glue gum drops to a styrofoam cone, I have had this one for years!
How about a tree full of cards, cookie cutters and candy like this Goodie Swap tree here
Here’s the recipe:
Tortilla Roll Up Tree
Ingredients
- flour tortillas
- pimento cheese*
- chopped red pepper
- chopped scallions
- sour cream
- fresh parsley chopped
- fresh spinach
Instructions
- Spread tortillas with pimento cheese and a few dabs of sour cream.
- Sprinkle peppers and onions evenly on top.
- Roll tortillas tightly into logs, wrap in saran and refrigerate up to 48 hours.
- To assemble tree, cut tortilla rolls into 1 inch pieces and stack on a flat bed of spinach leaves to look like a tree. Sprinkle with chopped parsley. Servings depend on size of tree, allow 2-3 pieces per person.

Just the cooler weather is getting me in the mood. I have been singing Christmas songs too! We love making tortilla roll ups but I never thought of stacking them as a tree – what a fun idea.
I’ve actually been kicking around putting a couple Christmas CD’s in the car to listen to while making my rounds on Saturdays! I agree Jenna, it’s never too early to gather ideas:@)

I remember a gumdrop tree from a long time ago (I mean a really long time ago – like forty or so years ago)It probably was made the same way. I have been a little embarrassed to admit that Christmas is on my mind too! I have even found myself singing Christmas songs while I am out in the car by myself. My husband asked this week if we could start decorating for Christmas. Why not? Maybe just a few things, maybe like making a gum drop tree for the kitchen counter would be a great way to start decorating. Thanks for the inspiration!
