Tablescapes, Autumn Gathering
One of the reasons I fell in love with this Villa Della Luna dinnerware was I knew it could be versatile, despite the bright pattern
I bought 4 dinner plates, bowls and latte mugs and 4 Napoli chargers to complement them
Then Pflatzgraff asked me to do a promotion and they sent me 4 more full place settings, including the salad plates, butter/dessert plates and coffee mugs
I wanted to set an autumn/Thanksgiving table for 8, but the challenge was how to make it look like I had a full set of this pattern. I did have 8 dinner plates and bowls, and I used the same silver flatware, goblets, and coasters for each setting
4 places are set with a round orange rattan charger atop a pinky orange ruffled mat, and a latte cup
The other 4 places are set with a Napoli charger atop a square rattan brown charger and a coffee mug
4 cream napkins with pumpkin rings, and 4 green napkins with silver rings, alternate at every other place
The butter/dessert plates and the salad plates are used on the tiered server
The centerpiece runs down the length of the table, signifying the abundance from the harvest
Seasonal elements, including a rustic turkey, real and faux pumpkins are interspersed with candles, pomegranates, and potpourri
Note: the potpourri and the candles are unscented, so they don’t interfere the the aromas of the food
The blue patterned bowls filled with wine corks and orange pumpkins visually unify the tableau
The eye sees a continuity down the table with evenly spaced bowls and bands of blue
The hue of the ruffled mats blends with the terra cotta of the dinnerware and helps tie in to the fabric covered Parsons chairs
The fourth salad plate and dessert plate make a handy wine coaster
During the holidays especially, it is hard to have enough matching pieces for large groups
If you have enough foundation pieces, it is amazing the results you can achieve

This is one of my favorite Pfaltzgraff patterns. I hope to own at least a few pieces one of these days. Your table, as always, is beautiful.
We are hosting Thanksgiving this year. We will gather around the farmhouse table in the breakfast room. This is the Sunday before Thanksgiving, about 10 or so days after J’s surgery…just our young’uns…making it 13 for dinner. We’ve decided have the meal done by Dierberg’s, a local store. They do Thanksgiving beautifully, making it a tad easier for recuperating g’parents, who love to have family together for the day, but with stamina a tad low.:-)
This is a very versatile pattern and you have styled it well in several settings and occasions. Love it in your dining room.

This pattern really is versatile. It certainly works well for TGV the way you have styled it here. Good tips about using less than a complete set of dishes. It’s all about the mix, not the match!

Those dishes really do translate easily from summer to fall!!! What a great look for this time of year! I guess it’s all about the decorative items you pair it up with! That versatility is something I tend to look for in dishes. It’s nice if you can use them more than one season in a year.

So festive Jenna! I hadn’t considered using VDL for fall, despite the orange in the pattern and the warm terracotta colored bowls. I love the abundance and all the elements on your table! We used to have a band of 7 wild little (all boy) Indians at our Thanksgiving feast. They”re all grown up…*sniff* 🙂
I like how to mixed and matched your place settings! Yes, you are right. With enough of the basics on hand, you can successfully set a table for many – even if they aren’t all identical. I love your dishes, and the straw/wicker pumpkins are beautiful! You must know that I took some time to examine your gorgeous draperies. I would love a closer view of the details! Did someone make them custom? Sorry, it’s a trade hazard…always curious about window treatments, especially when they are so stunning. 🙂
Ha! You are so funny! Yes, they are custom and I spent a fortune on the rods which no one ever sees, but I just had to have them~ I will work them into a post or email you some photos…I call them my Scarlett O’hara drapes, they look like a ball gown hanging 🙂

Those plates are versatile. They are lovely in both settings. I must say, I adore the white rustic pumpkins in the centerpiece! They are gorgeous. Happy Fall!
