Creations, Garden Girl

We don’t have a chance with the squirrels, rabbits and who knows what roaming in from the woods in our backyard, but we try~

HHjr planted the garden last weekend and said, “You and Superboy need to make a scarecrow for the garden, Mom, it can be a blog project…”

They know if they tell me I should blog it that I’ll do it 🙂

It sounded like fun so I asked him to build me a framework for the base.  Do not be offended, this is not a religious symbol, it’s simply two boards put together for a torso frame

Yep, she’s classy, duct tape and rubber gloves

But hey, 5 minutes and what we could find in the garage and she’s lookin’ good!

“Her boobs are too big Gigi!”

Yes, he said that…

He also knows what a souffle is and that you must serve it immediately before it falls~

“Where on earth did you learn that?” I asked

“Cartoons,” he replied

Not quite 7, and he knows about boobs and soufflees…

sigh…

We gave her a hat, sunglasses and some lipstick

and off she went to the garden

HHjr screwed the base into the garden box side so she wouldn’t topple over in a thunderstorm

There she is in all her glory!

The worst part is HHjr said from the street it looks like I’m working in the garden!  Then he laughed hysterically~

Oh great… well, at least she’s got lipstick on!

How do you keep pests out of your garden?  Those little silver tags are pieces of duct tape on strings tied to the posts… more classy stuff  🙂

Like I said this was literally a 5 minute project, and so far she’s doing a great job!  But every time I look out the window I think somebody’s in our backyard~

Great fun! Not sure where to start… so many comments floating around in my head:@) This is a hilarious project and I’m sure the kids had a blast helping! I can see her getting a Halloween make-over too. Happy Easter Weekend Jenna!

I had to laugh at the ‘boobs’ comment and that your son said it looked like you working in the garden Jenna 🙂 I only have herbs planted these days. We gave up planting tomatoes when they all came in at the same time and decided it was too much work with all those delicious varieties at our local farmers market. I found using some reflecting pinwheels from the dollar store worked great for keeping all the birds and critters from pecking at them. If I could only keep those blasted squirrels from digging in my flower pots now I’d be happy.

Oh my, Jenna, don’t kids keep us laughing?? The garden girl looks cute and I’m thinking like Lynn, and she can keep up with the seasons with an outfit change. Best of luck with the veggies. I have to watch out for rabbits around here, and squirrels, too.

Thank you, Jenna, for starting my day off with a giggle! Love your new “friend” and the story behind her entrance. Have a wonderful Easter. Rosie @ The Magic Hutch
