Tulips are one of the universal signs of spring so I thought I’d show you an easy way to paint them~

You can have flowers blooming all the time

Easy Peasy

DSC_0001

Start with a fat brush and two or three colors.  Experiment to find the combo you like~ I used pink, red and yellow. Dip your brush in each color

Top left:  begin petal at base and make a curved stroke, finishing in a point.  Reload brush with more paint and make a second stroke in the same manner.  For the third stroke, begin at the base and then curve in the opposite direction finishing again in a point, top right

Bottom left: add one more stroke if you like, but I generally keep my tulips to 3 strokes, bottom right

For the blooms below I added white~see how each one has a color variation?

Add stems; Load brush with yellow and green [ I like pine green or sap green for plants]

Start with tip of brush at the base of the tulip bloom and stroke downward in a slight curve, letting the stroke widen at the bottom

Reload brush and now start at the bottom, using a wide stroke, curving slightly and turning as it goes up, and finish with a point, see above center

Reload brush and add another leaf on the opposite side of the stem

These tulips were done with red and pink, pink and white, yellow and white, white and cream, red and yellow

Experiment with color combinations~ the key is loading the brush [dipping in paint] in several colors and letting the colors mix on the surface as you paint.  Fast is best. Quick strokes, don’t over work it

When you paint on a slick surface like glass or ceramic, you can quickly rinse the paint off if you don’t like it or use a paint remover like Goof Off, to remove it after it dries.
