I was playing around with photo editing effects and decided to make a visual reference chart for myself and thought I’d share some of the results with you. Whether you use PicMonkey, PhotoShop, Apps or other editing methods, the possibilities are endless…
Here is the still life photo that I used to try out various effects
I tried over 50 different things on this photo in PicMonkey and here are my favorites
Focal B&W
Light Trails 3
Sketch
Warhol Blue and Green
Burn [added to inside of lower left daisy]
Dodge [used to soften dark blue outer areas]
Tint Pink
Paint
Water 2
Water 6
Cross Process
HDR
Holga
Boost
Draw [colored the background left side]
Posterize
Comic Heros, Graphic Novel
And this last one is done with Waterlogue App for iPhone/iPad
So many possibilities!!
Juicy Details
PicMonkey is a free on line editing service. You can pay a small yearly fee to upgrade for access to more effects, fonts and other options. You can use it to add text to your photos, edit faces, crop, resize~ then simply save the photo back to your computer and print or have it printed. Even if you’re not a blogger, you can use PicMonkey for tons of stuff. I use it to make printable menus and tags, and it has a great collage feature
Many of the PicMonkey effects have several variations within them, so Water 6 means that the 6th option was used for that photo
Waterlogue App is available through the App store for $2.99
Feature photo was done with Dark Edges and Frost
Turn any photo into a work of art!
