Happy Father’s Day! Somethin’s Fishy!

The men in my life are crazy for all things outdoors

You can’t keep them inside

And  they all are CRAZY about fishing

You don’t see many recipes for seafood on my blog because I, cough, don’t like fish…  shhh….I know right? But I love to see others enjoy it and the guys do grill it often…and they always order it when we go out, so they get plenty  😏

Now even though I don’t like to eat it [with the exception of shrimp, lobster and scallops] I love to paint fish, so let’s have a little fun today!

This bottle cap fish* was rusted beyond recognition…I asked HH to throw it away and he said, “Maybe I should paint it…”   Uh oh, next thing you know he will be tablescaping…

It really looked very cool just all white, but I couldn’t help but try a little color

Now he’s ready for prime time again!

Here’s a fun fishy craft

Make fish clips out of clothespins

Use them for bag clips or to decorate a frame

I got my inspiration from these picket fence fish from Cottage and Bungalow featured in Coastal Living

These are “crabby clips”  {to appear in a tablescape soon}

You can also make a fun fishy frame with jewelry craft fish, tiles and sea glass

These glasses are painted to match some new fish plates you can see in I’m Hooked here

Painting fish is easy peasy, an almond shape, and eye and a fin or two…

Two Less Fish in the Sea wedding glasses requested by a customer for a beach wedding…

Aren’t they fun?  Sorry, it’s hard to photograph glasses painted on both sides

Here’s our newest angler

Baby Boy is going to want his own fishing pole before we know it

And Papa Doc is going to need a bigger lap!

Happy Father’s Day to all you fabulous Dads out there!

I hope you get lots of bites today! 🐟 🐠 🐬

Juicy Details

*bottle cap fish was purchased at an art show from a friend of mine, she hammered all the bottle caps and secured them to a wooden fish shape.  It’s been hanging outside at the beach house bar for years and the salt air finally got the best of it…I am thrilled to have brought it new life… my new motto is “think before you throw” and try to repurpose and re-enjoy~

You can see more funky frame ideas over at my gallery here.  Old jewelry, bits of tile and this and that are fun to reuse to decorate frames.  Look for inexpensive frames at craft stores, dollar stores or Hobby Lobby, always 50% off
