Color
Sigh…
I love it!
The more, the better
The crazier, even better!
The funkier, the best!
This is the “Mermaid Room”
It’s full of bright summer colors
and mermaids of course
This is where I escape for a little R&R when I can get away with it
A cozy chair to read
A Painted Canister which might or might not be full of secret treats…
The side tables, originally “pedestals” for a glass dining table, were decorated by lightly coating plastic wrap with paint and applying it to the table surface, creating a watercolor affect
This room has been a great haven for me this week as we vacation with DD’s family…a 2 month old and a 2 year old keep things pretty chaotic…and Super Boy and Big E arrived yesterday, so now it’s extra crazy…
“I feel like I’m living in a day care center,” said HH 😱
But when things get challenging, I can swim off and be with the mermaids for a while… 😎
Juicy Details
The painted pink sticks were found at a craft store, and the funky papier mache flowers were purchased from an artist friend years ago. You can see more of them at Hot Pink Fun in the Summertime here

Jenna, I had to laugh at “I feel like I’m living in a day care center” 🙂 Love all the whimsy and color of the mermaid room! I think you need to follow in the mermaid’s footsteps on your needlepoint pillow and have a cocktail or two to cope with the chaos!
Love it!!!
Happy 4th of July! I think we are going to have a quiet one, however, with our family things can change in an instant.:-)
So Fun! Love it!
I imagine that it is pretty active at your house this weekend! I do love the colors in The Mermaid Room. Is that your new chair? Looks very comfy. Aren’t you clever to repurpose those pedestals that way! I love interesting paint techniques and used to do so many all the time. Then it seemed that they sort of fell out of favor, and I stopped. I am happy to see people doing them again, along with stenciling, etc.
Thanks Ellen, I thought of you when I bought the hot pink and orange lamp, knowing you would approve 🙂
Love the pillow! And I second Mary’s suggestion:@)
Jenna, you’re going to have mermaids from all over the world stopping in for a stay in that room! I LOVE everything about it–the colors, the mermaid book on the bed, the side tables…
Judy
