Creations, Quick Jar Dress-ups
I have a serious thing for jars..
They are great for keeping snacks fresh for weeks…
HH loves a little bowl of goldfish or a salty snack when he gets home from work, so we keep some handy on the great room bar
Dressed up with a little burlap ribbon wrap, they are pretty enough to leave out
If you have more time, give the jars a coat of spray paint
Wide burlap ribbon secured with a thin length of twine looks good too
or a knotted rope
I like to tie wide fancy ribbon around the top rim too and add a homemade tag
Don’t forget to use a cute cupcake paper to cover the jar lid, so fast and easy~
Tie 2 jars together and stick in some blooms
A pretty ribbon and a simple half knot is a speedy and dramatic presentation
For buffet toppings place jars on a length of freezer paper labeled with what’s inside
You can tie on a spoon for easy serving
or tie on a chalkboard tag

I haven’t taken the time to decorate any, but I do use glass jars for leftovers, snacks, etc. I buy a ton of fruit at the grocery, and to make it easy to eat at breakfast, I prepare it all at once and put it in jars in the fridge. That way there’s always blueberries or strawberries cut or pitted cherries, etc. I also save large wide-mouth glass jars like some of the items from Costco come in because those are are wonderful for left-overs, etc. I am trying to get rid of all plastic in my kitchen.
Thanks Ellen, and great ideas too. I have found that crackers and nuts keep literally for months in jars, no more stale stuff to toss away. I really like your idea of doing fruit ahead for an easy breakfast or a nutricious snack, I will start doing this asap! >
With the exception of one flower frog lid, most of my mason jars are strictly utilitarian in the kitchen… Oh, but there is one full of buttons that looks cute in the craft room:@)
Jenna, Love all your jars dressed to impressed! I use them for flower, cocktails, and picnics and it’s so much more fun to eat out of a jar rather than tupperware 🙂

What a great idea! Although, leaving snacks out would be dangerous around here. I’d be too tempted to stay out of them. But, your ribbons decorate the jars perfectly.
Thanks Kim, the snacks can be a little too handy, but the jars keep them so fresh that I do this in my pantry too~ as soon as somethings opened up it goes in a jar. >

I have a jar thing too, and your jars are just adorable! I’ve seen similar ones in the stores, and they aren’t cheap. Love the burlap! 🙂
