I’ve been helping out with Baby Boy since his daycare doesn’t begin for a few more weeks, and DD’s maternity leave is up
I asked her if I could share her master bath redo…
I love spending time in her house, it’s full of light and the shades of gray decor is so serene and relaxing…
if you DONT think about that Shades of Gray ^^’
I have had the fun, and pleasure, of helping decorate a few spots…
The master suite is at the end of the hall, come on, let me show you
They have plantation shutters on most of the windows in their house
She decorated the master bedroom, which features a ebony wood king bed and chunky modern black lamps
The bath entrance is to the left of the dresser across from the bed
Come on in~
Wait! To really appreciate this space you’ve got to see the before photos
Be warned the before photos of this bath are pretty shocking!
BEFORE
The original bath was tiny, about 5′ x 7′ decked out in gorgeous 1960 vintage tiles~ 😱
On the upside, there was a short passage between the bedroom and bath with a decent walk in closet and a linen closet
The linen closet was removed, opening up the space
A closet in the hall that backed up to the original bath was eliminated to gain more space
The resulting bathroom is L shaped, with two vanities, a tile shower and a storage bench
“Her” vanity is where the linen closet used to be, and is next to a built in storage bench topped with the same quartz as the vanity
This shelf/cabinet provides shelves for storage and valuable extra counter space or a place to sit and tie your shoes
The walls behind the vessel sinks feature 1″ x 1,” mixed stone and glass, square tiles, running from the counter tops to the ceiling
The tiles are a mix of natural stone, mercury glass and glass. Some of the tiles are reflective, brightening the space
The dramatic vertical expanse of tile also makes the room feel larger
The sides of the square tiles are finished with narrow stone bull nose pieces, matching the stones of the square tiles
“His” vanity is in the L part of the room next to the shower
The vanities feature drawers and a cabinet for storage and toiletries
The shower features a built in seat and the tile is the same as the tile on the bathroom floor
It looks like the floor just flows up the walls
The floor tiles are laid on the diagonal, which is a great trick for making a space seem wider
The original master closet is across from the “Her” vanity and is a surprisingly decent size so no changes were made there
My son’s company, Magic City Tile, did the remodeling work, and transformed this beast into a beauty!
There’s another 1960’s bathroom in this house that needs a face lift- it’s full of slime lime green tile– so I can’t wait to get started on that one!
Next up, though, is this space over the love seat in the living room
The Breaking Waves painting in the foyer is visible from here so I have to paint something that won’t fight with that
Any suggestions?
