I am usually the last one to want to rush into fall, but as we are all wilting on the vine, this summer, it might be fun to think about Pumpkin Possibilities
I like to tuck some into my planters and pots to help hide the bare spots from dead summer flowers. Planting fall flowers too early in the deep south just makes Mother Nature mad and she’ll keep temps in the 90s into October
The more pumpkins the merrier, is my motto!
You can find a quick and easy method for making plump fabric pumpkins here
Start adding some white pumpkins to your vignettes with fall colored flowers to hint at autumn around the corner
This vignette from Tapas in the Vineyard features bleached paper pumpkins and dried yellow roses with grapes, garlic, red onion and parsley
Nestle pumpkins on soft moss beds or in nests like on this Fall Dessert Table
Pumpkins love sunflowers too~
Of course, I recommend Painting Pumpkins
Paint them on treat bags, napkins, pillows or pots
Customize real or plastic pumpkins to suit your mood
or color scheme
As we get closer to October and November add some other elements
Pine cones, grapevine balls, acorns, squash
Bring in darker richer colors and textures like velvet
Apples and autumn produce
Make a bountiful pumpkin “runner”
and light it up with microfiber lights
When November begins I like to put away the Halloween orange and use mercury glass and silver to hint at the December holidays
Spray paint an orange pumpkin silver to transition into December
and don’t forget that your pumpkins can keep working for you right through the holiday season!
