Creations, Gold Leaf Glasses
Sometimes you need a little *sparkle* and excitement in your life
Gold Leaf is fun to play with because you can’t quite control it, you just have to go with the flow
I used Mod Podge to attach it and seal it to the glasses…
There are other methods, and techniques, but I was too lazy to go buy the gold leaf sealer this was easy and worked for me
The gold leaf sheets are delicate so abstract placement is best
Don’t worry if it tears or wrinkles, it’s all part of the charm
Once it’s in place, paint a protective coating of Mod Podge over it, very gently, as it can still move and tear
I exaggerated the method just so you could see how important it is to seal those edges…
{Nawwww, not really, I totally thought it would come right off and it doesn’t so, be as tight as you can on those edges, less to clean up later}
Once Mod Podge has cured take a sharp exacto knife and scrape off the excess Mod Podge
Yes, it’s a little bit of a pain, but if you use the tip and cut along the edge of the gold leaf, then go back and use the long flat edge of knife, you can remove excess Mod Podge in large pieces. You can also try using mineral spirits
They still seemed a little unfinished to me so I added some dots around the base and scattered above the gold leaf, with gold acrylic paint
You can hand wash these by swirling the insides with soapy water and gently rinsing, just don’t soak
Experiment on a small jar or inexpensive glass first to get a feel for it, and test to make sure it’s sealed and waterproof
I purchased the gold leaf sheets at my local art supply store
