Recipe Box, Asian Glazed BBQ Ribs

January may seem like a funny time to post a BBQ ribs recipe, but even if you’re up to your boot tops in snow, you can make this lip smacking recipe in your oven!

My husband has decided to learn how to cook.  He has always grilled, but nothing fancier than a bottled marinade or BBQ sauce and perhaps a potato or vegetables wrapped in foil…

Now he’s reading cookbooks, studying recipes, and prepping in advance

DSC_0040

He made several things earlier in the week that he proclaimed successes, { I was opting for salads and lighter fare,} but when he announced he was making baby back ribs, I was all in…

The sauce is an Asian style sauce, with hoisin sauce as the base

Note: We cut the rack into 2 pieces and froze half.  Plan on one rack of ribs for every 3-4 people

He put a liberal coating of Kosher salt and freshly cracked pepper on the ribs before putting on the grill, cooking over indirect heat for the first hour, then direct heat for an additional 30 minutes, glazing during the last 10 minutes

I was very impressed!  We both agreed that these were some of the best ribs we’ve ever had…

This from a guy that has cooked a frozen pizza on the cardboard circle, and a cornish hen in the oven without a pan… 😱  🔥

Asian style glazed

We have had chillier weather in the South this past week, but the grill is usually always going, rain, sleet or shine…

Oven cooked ribs are also delicious, and the method is so easy.  Salt and pepper the meat on both sides, place it on a large piece of heavy duty foil, and cover both sides liberally with sauce.  Wrap tightly, place in a shallow pan and bake at 275 for 3-4 hours or 300 for 2-3 hours

Unwrap ribs and slather with more sauce.  Place under broiler for a few minutes to crisp up if desired

Your hubby’s Asian-style ribs sound lip-smacking good Jenna! My SIL turned us on to ribs in the oven, so easy and good! I had to chuckle at the pizza on the cardboard and hens without a pan 🙂 Boston Butt was on sale this week so we’re firing the the Egg on Saturday for some pulled pork to for the pigskin playoffs and the Panthers game on Sunday.

I chuckled at the Cornish hen without a pan! Good for you! Something you can do together and it looks delicious. We must get together sometime and have the men prepare our dinner! Haha.

  4. Oh my…those ribs look amazing!….and a great substitute for having to grill out…as who wants to grill when It is 30 degrees outdoors…my hubby certainly will not!…and I love the cornish hen story…sounds like my hubby!…Have a great weekend!

  5. Jenna, These ribs look and sound so yummy! We keep the grill going as long as possible, even up here in snow country! We even did filet mignon on the grill for Christmas dinner (brave hubby and the other men ventured forth to the grill) and it was so delicious. I keep all his cooking outside–not yet ready for him to try the real oven! 🙂 Linda

These ribs look delicious Jenna! We use the grill all year, only the windy, coldest days are blocked off the calendar. Your hubs has the right ingredients, sounds really good. Nice he’s taking an interest now. I think I remember you mentioning you have a green egg. Does he do brisket? If he does maybe he will share his recipe. My husband grills, I love that! Love the pics, especially the beach scene, and I think I know where it is. Sure looks good on the chilly evening.
    Have a great weekend…

  7. Your man’s got talent Jenna! Those ribs look totally awesome!
