Creations, Magnolia & Cotton Wreath
I’ve been looking at magnolia leaf wreaths and price comparing… whoa, some are really expensive…
Off I went to my favorite Hobby Lobby to see what they had, and I found the perfect faux magnolia leaves
They look and feel so real, and were 50% off. 😊
The leaves were in bunches on a central big stem so I separated them into smaller pieces, 3-4 leaves to a branch
I inserted the ends into the grapevine wreath form, overlapping, all the way around and then went back and filled in gaps
I didn’t even use wire, I was able to secure the leaf stems just by weaving them into the wreath
Next came a little cotton
I spent less than $30 👍
Southern Magnolias [magnolia grandiflora] are native to the southeastern US and are widely recognized as a symbol of hospitality, grace, and Southern strength.
Here’s an interesting fact, Magnolias are one of the first flowering plants known to mankind and have been around longer than bees! Their leaves had to be sturdy because the ancient species were fertilized by beetles, which crawled on them during the process

Love your magnolia and cotton ball wreath Jenna! I didn’t know the tidbit about the leaves and beetles on the early magnolia trees. We have one in our yard which enjoy for the foliage for my window boxes and arrangements at Christmas. I always look forward to the blooms in April. 🙂

Beautiful wreath! I adore magnolia trees and we just planted several new magnolias in front of our N.O. house (not at the beach). Got rid of messy crepe myrtles. Love the little touch of cotton — I enjoy seeing the cotton growing when we are on our way to the Sea Glass.
Jenna, just a beautiful magnolia and cotton ball wreath and easy to make! I have a magnolia that we planted 37 years ago and I use its sweet-smelling blooms in spring and its waxy/furry leaves for Christmas! Magnolias just symbolize the South

Hi Jenna, Love the magnolia and cotton bolls together! Very natural as well as beautiful! My mother used to cut fresh magnolia blossoms and float them in a bowl of water, making the whole house smell divine! Thanks for sharing your creativity! Blessings, Janet

I am gonna have to hit hobby lobby more often! The one in my area seems like their prices have skyrocketed ever since we got a HomeGoods. But I do enjoy their clearance sections.
Loving the wreath! I have been on the hunt for magnolia leaves but taking out my credit card to pay for them is not an option. You are so right, they are pricey. Love that you added cotton sprigs to yours. It looks great!
