The Organized Life, Drying Rack

We are gearing up for a busy summer at the beach house and I’m trying to make sure things run as smoothly as possible

This fast project requires no skill other than opening a paint can

I found this wooden plant frame in the garden section of Home Depot for $14.  It’s lightweight and hinged at the top so you can adjust the angle

I painted it beachy aqua and lavender and parked it on the porch

It attracted swim suits like a magnet!

No more drippy suits everywhere!

Tucked away in the porch corner, it’s handy but out of the way…

And when the breezes blow  💨 it doesn’t blow over, the air just goes right through  🎏

Now, if I could just figure out what to do with all the towels…and the flip flops…and the toys…with 4 grands ages 1,3,4,8, it gets chaotic  😱

But! I have a plan!  It’s called “Beach House Rules”

Stay tuned, this is bound to be not well received  interesting…

I think I’ll keep a pitcher of Rum Coffeecake Cocktails in the fridge, just to keep things going really smoothly…  😎

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Jenna, what a great idea for the swimsuits. The little stand is adorable painted the beach colors and the porch is the perfect place for all the drip drying. Beach house rules are a must with kidos and the cocktails a must with a house full 🙂 We just returned from a week at the beach and it takes a lot to keep things running smoothy. Happy summer.

    • Thanks Emily! I know you had a great week at the beach! We always have a great time when the family comes, it is non stop, but everybody pitches in to help… we are pretty happy when they leave though 🙂 >

I love your rules. This is not my idea, but this link may make the 1 glass rule easier, and I’d love to see your take on it. http://www.beeinourbonnet.com/2011/12/coaster-tray.html

  3. Very nice

I think rules are necessary for the good life. Without them, the whole experience would deteriorate into a mess! Your drying rack is a clever idea! Maybe a big basket for the flip fops? A ballet barre for towels? I don’t know because I have never had to deal with this!

When you have a place that you share with friends and family there have to be some house rules otherwise you drive yourself crazy trying to control the mess.

  6. Jenna, beach house rules seem fair enough to me, you want to enjoy the family and not feel like you are picking up all the time! Have a great week!

I love your drying rack idea Jenna, that will help I’m sure! And of course, the Rum Coffecake Cocktail always helps:@)

  8. Oh my!..What a great idea!!!…Love it!

Thanks for joining Cooking and Crafting with J & J!

Genius Jenna! I saw that hinged trellis at our Lowe’s, but I had a climbing vine in mind instead of swim suits! I bet you come up with something equally creative and colorful for flip flops! Wet towels are always a challenge for boating season 🙂

Great vision!!! I bet nobody else thought of making over a plant rack to a drying rack!! And it looks like it will get great use!
Keep that pitcher of cocktails full!
And thanks for sharing on Dishing It & Digging It!

    Awww family time. 🙂

Your drying rack is perfect and I love the rules. 🙂

  13. Sandra Garth says:

That was $14 very well spent!

  14. Oh, this made me smile! With these two toddlers at my house now for about seven weeks, I could use some of these rules, or maybe just the drinks! Thanks so much for sharing at the Celebrate Your Story! link party!

I love your drying rack, what a cute idea! I need to try using wooden plant frame like that too. Have fun at the beach house. Thank you for sharing at the Talented Tuesday link up. Kim
