Holidays, Painted Flag Bottles

Are you ready?

Memorial Day is such an important day in our country’s proud history, a day we honor all of those who have bravely served to protect our freedom…

It’s also the official kick off to Summer

Do you have any special plans?

We will be enjoying sun and fun with family,  and I have been busy corralling ideas for keeping tummies full

I am going to make  Blue Raspberry Bread with Orange Glaze  this afternoon and freeze it.  Not only will it be ready for next weekend, it can act as a freezer pack in my cooler while I travel

When we have a full house the dishwasher runs 3 x a day…we are going to use paper plates as much as possible, that should really help!

I found so many cute red, white, and blue things at Target, plates were only $1 a package!

I couldn’t resist painting a few bottles…  🇺🇸

red white and blue bottles

Painted  bottles are an easy way to add to the decor.  You can put flowers or a sparkly pick in them, or hang something around their necks

flag bottles

I sprayed 2 bottles white and one bottle blue

Have you seen the small half cans of spray paint?  They are great for small projects and cost about 1/2 the price of a standard can

I put chevron Frog Tape around one of the white bottles, like this Chevron Wine Cooler, and then sprayed it red

It’s a little tricky to wrap it around the bottle perfectly, but you can touch it up once the tape is removed

Patriotic ornaments, touched up with a brush to match the bottle colors, add pizazz

If I spend some time thinking and planning, I can enjoy the fun along with everyone else

Pinterest is my go to way to plan and organize.  It’s great not only for getting ideas, but for keeping thoughts visually organized.  I always create a Pinterest board for the next party or event coming up

You can see my Memorial Day Pinterest board here

Don’t forget that even if you’re at the grocery store, you can open your Pinterest app on your phone,  look at any board,  and pull up the pinned recipes to check ingredients if you forgot to make a list

Three Cheers for the Red, White & Blue Jenna! Your post is packed with inspiration from your flag formation of bottles to your yummy Blue Raspberry Bread with Orange Glaze. We’ll be ready for some fun in the sun after a very wet and stormy week! Thanks so much for Pinning my Berry Quick & Easy Layered Cake to your Memorial Day board. 🙂

  2. Jenna, what great inspiration for Memorial Day! Love your bottle idea and it is so festive! I haven’t made any plans as of yet, and everyone depends on me…So, I better get started’

    👍🇺🇸

  4. Great ideas. The bottles turned out cute! I’ll do a little something for Memorial Day but it’s just Dan and I so it won’t be much.

Super cute bottles! And I love the red, white, and blue festive tablescape! No big plans for us, …doing nothing, which is nice, too! lol! 🙂 ~Rhonda

I love your bottle ideas — so cute. Prepare to be copied! You are more tech savvy than I am, using Pinterest that way. I see people all the time looking at their shopping lists on their phones when I am in the store. Me — I am walking around with my list written on a piece of paper from a yellow legal pad! Archaic, I know… Have a fun summer at the beach!

    • Thanks Ellen, copy away! I used to always leave my list at home, so now my life is on my phone- I will be back and forth, I hope we can grab a lunch before too long-

Very cute! Looks like you have a good head start on the holiday weekend:@)

  8. Great post! Loved all of your ideas and pictures.

    So adorable!

Well, if I’d had time to get over hear sooner, I would have known your weekend plans. It looks like such fun! I’m totally with you on the paper plate idea. You have such great recipes, I know your family is well fed. The sweet bread looks delicious!!! I love your painted bottles. The chevron is unique and pretty, but I think I’d have to stick with straight tape. I imagine the tape sticking to the white paint and pulling much of it off when removing the tape. Did you wait a long time between painting and taping? Happy Memorial Day!

    • Thanks Kim, and no, I am Miss Impatient, and did pull off some of the white paint but it was easily touched up~ I think if I had used a primer first it wouldn’t have flaked, but again, Miss Impatient 🙂 Have a great holiday weekend! >

We have a pool party with friends and our first batch of homemade ice cream on the agenda. Hoping that we don’t get rained out like last year. Love your post today and always. 🙂

    Happy Thoughts of Home.
