Creations, Holiday Bottle Tree

We spend most of November, but only a tiny bit of December on the coast, so I wanted to make a holiday tree that we could enjoy now, during these anticipatory holiday weeks, and through New Years…
One day I had an idea
I thought, I bet that tall blue bottle would look pretty full of lights
I had lights!
Sorry the photos are so dark, I was so excited to get started, things just happened, and I took these with my phone, shooting into the bright doors beyond… 😁
I couldn’t stop long enough to find better lighting, I just began wildly cramming lights, lots of lights into the bottle
Next came a piece of leftover shoe molding, covered with a ribbon and inserted into the bottle neck
The stick stays secure because the big plug from the lights is in the neck of the bottle and provides a wedge to hold the stick in place
I tied various lengths of transparent silver ribbon to the stick and tied ornaments to the ends
I kept to a simple palette of aqua, gold, silver and white
Sparkly balls on sticks were tucked in the ribbon at the very top
The stick is easily removed and can be stored away after the holidays
Ready to go again next year
Things rarely repeat themselves around here
But HH really likes this, he says it’s my best creation
Little does he know that next year I’m picturing a tall white tree with bright pink and orange balls, and mermaid ornaments! Shhhh…
We have been enjoying it
And the thoughts of holidays ahead
I am all about lights and sparkle any time of year
and anything aqua blue
A Sea Glass Christmas Tree is festive and easy to make too
It’s fun keep things festive no matter what the season!

Jenna, I love your creativity and whimsy with your bottle tree filled with lights and ornaments! Aqua in the perfect seaside color for a tree. I think a white tree with mermaid ornaments is great idea 🙂
Jenna, I’m sitting here thinking “shoe molding, what in the world is shoe molding..” then it dawned on me that it’s something to do with construction and not four inch heels, right? You are the most clever and creative person to think this up on the spur of the moment. I can’t imagine doing both your houses for the holidays! This is perfect for your beach house and I can’t wait to see the mermaid tree 🙂 and your hubby’s face! Linda
ha ha, I was going to call it a stick, but I was trying to be technically correct! A stick would work just as well 🙂
You had a very good idea, I like how it came out, and of course I like it that it’s blue 🙂
Cheers,
Emese
What a very clever and creative tree perfect for the beach or really anywhere. I really love this DIY project and it is gorgeous Jenna. Love the blue and the ornaments you use. Mermaids, I love them…Enjoy your time in there, I love the beach this time of year……….
Thanks Emily, it is so quiet here and beautiful, but we are heading north soon to get in the holiday rush!
The tree is so cute and creative! Love the colors! I also like where you’re going with next year’s tree… mermaids, just has to be fun and fabulous! 😉 ~Rhonda
I swanee! I could give you a stick and a wad of gum and you’d come up with something that would be featured on the cover of Veranda magazine! Gorgeous!
Very pretty and sparkly! Like your starter bottle, too. Perfect!
Love your creativity! Are the lights battery or plug in? In can’t tell from the pictures. I have a couple of blue bottles I’d like to do this with.
I forgot to include that I used a blue extension cord, with 4 strands of lights plugged together inside the bottle, and then the cord plugs into the wall. It works well in a corner, you can’t see the cord, but it’s a little trickier on a round table 🙂 >
Simply amazing! I’m putting this on my todo list for right after Thanksgiving!!
Thanks Ann-Margaret!
Jenna, love your Christmas bottle tree. I’d probably leave it up all year long. Can’t wait till next year for the mermaid tree. Gotta love me some mermaids.
Thanks Sandy! I love mermaids, and was kind of kidding, but I’m getting so such positive feedback I’m going to start collecting!
Jena, That is so cool.
Thanks Michelle! I hope you and your family have a wonderful Thanksgiving! Just saw Candas’ wedding pics on facebook the other day, wow, Congrats! We NEED to catch up soon! >
It turned out cute! I’m all about the sparkle too:@)
Jenna, I am amazed at your creativity…the bottle tree is too cute and will be so easy to put away! Martha Stewart may be calling!
