This week I’ve been hurrying to get the Advent Calendar ready

And gathering ideas for the elves, “Gumdrop” and “Minty,”  they will be arriving soon!

They get into all kinds of mischief!

There’s a phone booth nearby in case we have to report bad behavior to Santa

I buy inexpensive treats and toys at the $dollar store, Target bargain bin, Walmart

One day they might get a candy treat or a little toy,

The next day they might get a note that says,

Do something nice for your Dad today, or straighten up your toys,

or a note that suggests an activity, like draw and color a Christmas tree

Christmas hats are fun, these were in the Target dollar bins for $3

Things that are too big for the bags get hidden with a note in their bag that says

Treasure Hunt!

This year on Dec 1, they will go on a treasure hunt and find their new Christmas PJs, Elf on the Shelf of course!

I’ve also been refreshing some of my decor

This mailbox swag was looking tired

I took the old faded things off

and replaced the old stuff with 2 new ornaments and added a festive bow with ribbon I already had

Pretty cute for $4!

The front door wreath also got an update, with a chalk board sign in the center, and Santa boots and a letter to Santa

Jenna, I know your grands have as much fun opening their advent goodies as you do shopping for them! I always check out the Dollar Spot (now mostly $3 spot 🙂 in Target…those hats are the cutest! It makes me wish I had some little ones to buy for!

  2. You certainly have a festive home!

  3. Ha ha be careful! Those elves are trouble! Your Advent calendar is so flippin’ cute. I truly love it!

  4. This advent calendar is fabulous! Now I need a little someone to make one for! Very clever with the bags and treats. And every single photo tells me that magical winter wonderland with a lot of “Ho, ho, ho!” in store!

Yes, where oh where did November go? I blinked and it was gone.
Love your advent calendar. What fun that would be to open. The elves are too cute. I love their snowcones. Fun idea to have them have a hunt for their jammies. That way, they can use them all season.

  6. I love the Elf on a Shelf, wish he was around when my boys were small! Have fun:@)

  7. I love your Advent Calendar!…great ideas…We always had a scavenger hunt on Christmas Day here for our granddaughter….Santa hid them you know….but alas, she is a pre-teen and we miss those days!…Will have to come up with something else…Happy decorating … and love your wreath and the re-furbished mail box swag.

I love the new look for the mailbox decoration. The ornaments match many new things I’m adding this year. Love the ribbon, too, with those cute little plaid buttons. I like your wreath and the M. You have some great things there for the kiddos. Love those PJ’s!

    • Thank you Kim, my husband said this morning, “when are you going to do something about the mantel?” I mean really, it’s only Dec 1! I need to send him back to work 🙂
