Creations, Gingerbread House Cake

Gingerbread is the December flavor of the month, and it has inspired several creations!

candyland-cake-1

I made a fun little cake a few days ago, and decorated it like it was a gingerbread house

With a green wreath “roof”, gummy Christmas trees and bushes…

The boys got home from school just in time to add some icing to the gingerbread men cookies

I told Super Boy and Big E that I was trying out the gingerbread house decorating supplies

gingerbread-decorated-cake

You know, because I wanted my own gingerbread house to decorate  to make sure they would work on their gingerbread houses…

Bake your favorite white or vanilla cake in a bundt pan, it’s all about the decorations!

Mix the batter, divide it in half and color half with red food coloring.  Gel coloring works best, but I ran out and could only achieve a deep pink

Alternate spoonfuls of colored batters in pan and it will bake up into a marbled like cake

candy-melt-wreath

A green wreath “roof” made with candy melts went on top of the cooled cake

icing

Snowflakes and sprinkles, and candy cane Kisses filled the center

I used prepared tube icing to trim & secure the gingerbread cookies and to make “snow” dots on the cake

I wanted to “landscape” the cake with a yard of coconut flake “snow” but since it rarely snows around here

I opted for peppermint and M & M candy moat

So if you don’t want to make a gingerbread house
