Fearless Friday, Merry Mimosa Bar and Candy Cane Easels
Posted by the Painted Apron on December 22, 2016 · 15 Comments
Whew, here we are, December 23!
For a little extra jolly I painted a sign for our bar
Which is all set up as a Merry Mimosa Station
Help yourself!
I used a short piece of board and painted it black
I wanted to incorporate an evergreen branch and a bright red ornament
I designed it in PicMonkey first, a fast way to move things around to try out different fonts and designs
At the last minute I changed it from vertical to horizontal
Make quick short strokes in brown for the branches
Sap green and a very bright yellow green was used so the greenery wouldn’t get lost in the black
Next, lay in the big M for mimosa
finish adding the letters, filling in the O as a base for the ornament
go back and finish sketching in the merry
You can use a chalk outline before painting if you want and then just paint over it
Go back over the letters with another coat of white
Finish the ornament by painting it red, leaving a white outline to make it stand out, and adding a silver cap and hanger and a white highlight
I also added candy cane stripes to the m e r r y letters
Do you see the Santa card labels below by the juices?
They are candy cane easels
3 small candy canes glued together
I made some for the table
and to use on the buffet with name cards for the dishes
A quick last minute craft!
Merry Mimosa!

Jenna, Your sign is adorable and I love the candy cane easels. Love this……..
My family arrives today and the holidays begin. Merri, Merri to you and yours…………
How wonderful Emily, I know you will have a Merry time!
How do you find the time to do so much and what you create adds so much. Your sign is just wonderful! Much of my time right now is spent in my studio trying to finish pieces for folks to give as presents. That means things at home are pretty much neglected! Merry, merry to you and yours.
Thanks Linda, I go in spurts and then die out! I’m sure your pieces will be treasured, I hope you’ll post some photos- Merry Christmas! >
I love this entire post! Love the easels and the painted sign. Wishing you all the love, joy and peace of season as well as a very Happy New Year!
Thanks Laura, same to you! >
That’s really cute. Please tell me you set this up in July or something when nothing was going on so I don’t feel like such a slacker! I’m hoping against hope that I can paint tomorrow!
ha, no, I just did it, but I wish I had time for some serious painting! I’m hoping maybe later next week 🙂 Merry Christmas Jeanie! >
