Fearless Friday, Geraniums

Brighten your day with some summer geraniums!

This is an acrylic painting on 16″ x 16″  2″ wide wrapped canvas, which was painted first with black gesso

The main shapes were laid in with a few quick strokes to establish the composition and placement

Look closely at something and really see how many colors you can discover in something you thought was simply red or green…

There aren’t many photos because I was working quickly, the entire painting was finished in about an hour

Try doing a painting in a limited time, it will keep things loose and will stop you from overworking it

Beautiful! Hope your shop is doing well Jenna!!

  2. This was one of the choices I had a hard time not yet purchasing on Society6, but I suspect it will become part of my rotation of pillow covers sooner rather than later. I love this! Geraniums are a staple in my annual beds. 🙂

  3. These are all wonderful Jenna! Bombard away. I love the geraniums. Very cool.

Do I have your permission to copy this using your tutorial in my art journal? I would love to give this a go – I am not a painter but you make it look almost easy. I love this!!

  7. Jenna, what a lovely painting…the tote and the pillow are calling me to come and purchase!

  8. Jenna, I love your geraniums. You are so talented! I want to plant some with this weather we’re having.

I am so in awe of your artistic talents. I love this design, especially the pillow. I have found flowers the hardest thing to paint — except for giraffes. When I tried those they looked like Drag Queens.

  10. Mary says:

Gorgeous Jenna, this might be my favorite design of yours! You make painting geraniums look effortless!

  11. Your Geranium art is wonderful, I can also imagine it on the front of a greeting card with a lovely verse.

  12. You are so talented, Jenna. Blessings for your new venture.

  13. Oh stop! An hour! You are too, too talented! I enjoy viewing your lovely artwork! Thanks for sharing at Celebrate Your Story!

It always amazes me how you start your paintings…sort of in the middle. I wish I had your eye because your paintings always turn out beautiful! 🙂

Great tutorial…even if you didn’t take pictures of every single step—which gives the future artist some leeway to express themselves. Grins, love your style, Sandi
