Baking Soda will unclog drains
To get your drain running again (without resorting to chemicals worthy of a hazmat suit) pour ½ cup baking soda, then ½ cup vinegar, down a clogged drain. Cover it with a wet cloth, wait 5 minutes, uncover, and flush with steaming-hot water

If you add vodka to your pie crust recipe, it will make your crust more moist and easier to work with, preventing the gluten in the flour from binding, resulting in a more tender and flakier crust…who knew???

    Love these tips Jenna!

  2. Great tips, Jenna! My Mother always brined her chicken in buttermilk, and her fried chicken was the best! Happy Wednesday!

  3. What a great post! They’re all good tips, but the baking soda didn’t work for me and my drain – it was too far neglected. Note to self: buy barkeeper’s friend.

  4. Great tips to remember Jenna. I do use non fat buttermilk for my chicken, and you are right, keeps it moist and so tender when baked. I really needed the taco seasoning mix recipe, I don’t like using premixed from the grocer, this way I can control the spices. Thanks Jenna…..

Now this is a handy post. 🙂

We love BKF and have used it for years. I’m always surprised how many people don’t know about it.

Baking soda is a life saver for everything from clearing the drain to curing heartburn. Just saying. 🙂

We much prefer homemade taco seasoning because the packets are too salty.

    Thanks for this. Sharing. 🙂

  6. Thank you for these great tips Jenna, especially the plate scratch repair one and the spray olive oil!

  8. I’m bookmarking this one, Jenna. Especially the baking soda, lemons and bar friend. And taco seasoning. Yes, you can see why I’m saving it!

Thanks for coming to the Gypsy and your wonderful comments. With no-reply I can’t respond directly but know that I appreciate every single word! Happy day!
