The Organized Life, Island buffet with Nora Fleming flatware caddy

“I thought your New Year’s Resolution was to not buy anything,” he said

“It is!”  I assured him

“You sure are getting a lot of boxes…” he said

Here’s the thing, in January one of my BFFs from Minnesota came for a visit and she told me about this super fun ceramic line by Nora Fleming

It is all kinds of wonderful serving pieces with little ceramic mini decorations that are interchangeable

Seriously, where have I been…

I held out for about 2 weeks before buying this flatware/utensil caddy

We have limited storage at the beach house so I have to store a lot of things in plain sight

A large kitchen island is great for setting up a buffet station with seasonal dishes at the ready

A flatware caddy was just about a necessity!

Really!

I couldn’t wait to get out some fishy things to welcome the warmer days ahead

I did purchase a few more spring minis, thinking that if I just buy a few every season, soon I will have a great collection…

Plus they come in really small packages…. 😂

Each serving piece has a little hole where the minis attach by inserting their plastic pole

Oh, and because I got this fancy flatware/utensil caddy, I just about had to get these forks that I have been drooling over for over a year

Other than that, I swear I haven’t bought a thing…

Well…maybe a few things from Society6, but buying something from yourself doesn’t really count does it?

  1. You live in a fun house! Those minis are cute, remind me of button covers we used to wear. 🙂

The only plant that is blooming outdoors is my Lenten Rose which is 23 years old and always blooms for Lent! Your pillows are fabulous and would brighten up a room. I love your new purchases. 🙂

  3. Oh, I envy that kitchen! You have made a lot of fun holiday tablescapes. What a fun flatware caddy, perfect for the beach.

    • Thanks Carole, My son & I designed this kitchen with multiple cooks in mind, as there are often too many cooks in the kitchen 🙂 It really works well with ample space between the counters and the big island in the center for prepping and serving >

  4. Your island display is so colorful and bright – i love it! What a cute idea to buy the minis for each holiday! My husband has also commented on the daily arrival of boxes that are arriving – It seems that I am a late bloomer to buying online and now I am addicted! What are the little bright orange clothespins for?

  5. I love all of your accessories, Jenna. I need to start collecting some summer dishware. Hope you have a great week!

  6. Rosie M. says:

Oh, Jenna! I love that flatware caddy. Those minis are a great idea. I checked out Amazon and read the reviews. I see you added a small glass jar to separate the flatware; that was the chief complaint in the comments. Did that jar solve the problem of the flatware slipping into the other divisions? I could see bringing out that caddy at each holiday with a different mini. Oh, boy, I see many boxes coming to my door, too…….Rosie

    • I know, irresistible right? Yes, I am disappointed that the sections aren’t walled off, I should of mentioned that. I did have 1 jar that fit so I put it in the center and it helps the flatware on either side stay in place. Smart girl for reading the comments on the amazon reviews and noticing the jar! Other than that I love it and it’s so handy! I just ordered another single utensil holder that I am going to use for art pens to put by my favorite chair so I can sketch at whim, and a beach ball, grill, and crab mini…I’m addicted! Have fun and let me know what you choose…I love the cake stand but it’s pricey… >

  7. Jodi says:

lol! My husband comments very similarly every day when the Amazon or UPS or FedX or mailman comes to the house with a box! Quit sharing such great stuff Jenna! I had to order from MudPie! 🙂 <3 LOL!

  8. lulu says:

Perfect additions for your beach house and you will find the perfect way to use each piece, so I see nothing wrong with indulging! Man, when I can get out again I may go on a shopping binge.

  9. Jenna, the flatware caddy was a must have, a necessity the way I see it! I always love to see your island filled with a buffet! Have a great week!

  10. Elaine R. says:

    Hi Jenna,

What time shall I come over for coffee????
the Nora Fleming dishes are adorable.
I love your plates & cups…do you remember where you purchased them?
You are so talented…thank you for sharing your ideas.

Enjoy the rest of your day
    Elaine

    • hi Elaine, the fish dinner plates, cups and crab plates and cups I got at Homegoods several years ago, but the fish plates on the second tier I got at Antropologie and they they still carry them. The pattern is called Sardina and there is a whole line of fishy things. Thanks for stopping by! >

  11. Very cute. A great looking buffet set up.

  12. Belle Bleu Interiors says:

Jenna, you made me laugh! It is so hard for us girls to not buy anything. Your new kitchen items are adorable! I hope that you have a wonderful week!!!

  13. Ha, ha, very cute! Love the forks:@)

  14. Kim says:

I agree. You NEEDED these things! Very cute and of course, necessary. 🙂

  15. Love that silverware caddy and those forks with the quotes!!!….a friend told me about Nora Fleming items…I need to google them!…Looks like I am going to have to get the new pillow cover to go with the geraniums in a pot pillow cover that I just received….love that pillow!

    • My friend that told me about Nora Fleming said her SIL is addicted to the stuff and has spent more than $1500, yikes!! So glad you like your pillow! Thanks Shirley!

  16. Mary says:

Adorable flatware caddy and minis for celebrating the holidays Jenna! I love your coastal buffet with all your fun fish and crabby accessories 🙂

  17. Now I have to say those things you bought are purely functional. A necessity.

Like; toilet paper and coffee. Not decorative at all, so they don’t count

  18. I love how your kitchen island is organized, and the ceramics line is fun but not as fun as your designs!

  19. Sandra Garth says:

How cute is this caddy! Your tables are so festive and I always leave here inspired.

  20. About a year ago someone reading my blog told me about Nora Fleming, and I have resisted so far, but this one you featured might put me over the edge! Thanks for sharing at Celebrate Your Story!

  21. Ann Krucek says:

Cute flatware caddy!! I have a set of those blue striped flatware. They look really cute with all your bright dishes. But my favorites are the forks!! Those are adorable!! No spring here, we just got a couple of inches of new fallen snow, although it’s beautiful, it’s not what we wanted with things just starting to warm up.
