Recipe Box, Cupcakes & Cabbage

Last week was a whirlwind … 🌪

These are a few random things that were swirling around

A big fat cabbage got dressed up with a few ranunculus blooms

It was paired with some other spring vegetables for a centerpiece that you will see later this week

Then it got “potted”  {see chalkboard flower pot tutorial here}

And packed in the traveling tote to go to CC’s birthday party with her cousins

She might be a little princess but she has no trouble keeping up with the boys

CC loved her new cupcake carry all pouch

Charlie Brown thought the Chocolate Cupcakes with Creme de Menthe  St. Patrick’s Day cupcakes were the best thing ever

Speaking of cupcakes

How cute is this baby blanket with a cupcake border

I found a video tutorial on Pinterest here

The tutorial is in Swedish, but if you watch it a few times, you’ll catch on…trust me if I can do this you can do this, and it’s really fun to stitch

Instead of the buttons suggested for the cherry on top, I just used bright pink needlepoint yarn and tied it in several double knots at the top of the cupcake, to keep things baby safe

Big E and I made sweet treats while HHjr and his brother were at baseball

He made them all by himself!

And they are irresistable!

Raspberry White Chocolate Roll ups

Prep Time 5 minutes
Cook Time 15 minutes
Course Breakfast, Brunch, Dessert
Cuisine American
Servings 8

Ingredients

  • 1 can {8} crescent roll dough
  • 1 cup raspberry pie filling {or any flavor you like}
  • 1/2 cup white chocolate morsels {or any flavor you like}
  • sparkling sugar or decorating sugar optional

  • Unroll dough and separate into triangles. Drop 1-2 T filling on each triangle and spread around with back of spoon, leaving 1/4″ border. Sprinkle with chocolate and roll up, beginning with the short side and rolling to the point, enclosing the filling as best you can.
  • Place rolls on a parchment paper lined baking sheet and bake at 375 until dough has cooked through and golden, 12-15 minutes. Let cool a few minutes before eating.
  • Store covered at room temperature.

Note: if you have a Trader Joe’s near you, try their canned crescent rolls.  They bake up a little bigger and have a more homemade taste than regular Pillsbury crescents.

    Oh there is plenty of yum here this morning! And, I love all the adorable sweet smiling faces of the cousins. Looks like the food was certainly enjoyed and I love the cupcake stitching, such a sweet baby blanket. I’ve saved the sneak peek centerpiece, photo, I love that. Not sure yet if I’ll be hosting all my family for Easter but if I do I’ll try doing this. Have a wonderful day…….

    • Thanks Emily, it’s hard to resist all the gorgeous vegetables and flowers that are everywhere now! I have a fridge full of veggies waiting to be eaten! The cabbage is super simple and fun…did you see Mary’s last week on homeiswheretheboatis, she just placed an oasis on top of the cabbage so she didn’t have to cut it… >

    Oh Jenna, I just LOVE seeing your adorable grands!!! Who could ever be sad around those happy faces??!! The raspberry white chocolate pastries look so delectable and how great that Big E made them himself. Don’t we have fun in the kitchen with our cutie patooties? Thanks for the Trader Joe’s tip on their crescent rolls. I’ll be looking for those next time. That cupcake crocheted blanket is too cute for words…a must try.

    • Thank you Kitty! You are too nice! Yes, I am blessed with those 4 happy faces. Let me know if you try the cupcake crochet, it is really fun. I’m doing another blanket right now with a tulip border, I can’t wait to see how it turns out! I don’t cook with my grands nearly as much as you do, but Eli’s other grandmother took him to a childrens series of cooking classes and he loved them! >
