Creations, Bottle Beauty

I had so much fun découpaging Fanciful Bunnies that I couldn’t wait to try something else

There were plenty of découpage papers left over

A cool bottle…

Mod Podge and a disposable sponge brush

I changed up the colors a little by using blue tissue and a multi colored dot tissue I had in my gift wrapping stash

My plan was to apply the papers helter skelter and then do finishing touches with paint

A recent weekend guest brought us this bottle of whiskey, what Southerners call “sippin’ whiskey”

source

I’m a Chardonnay gal myself, but he insisted I try…

“It’s like the Old Fashioned cocktail in a bottle,”  he said

A drink made by sweetening straight rye whiskey with rock candy and citrus peels. Slightly hot and peppery initially. Quickly gives way to a mellow, smooth sweetness – hints of rock candy, honey and citrus are subtle. Finish is long and slightly sweet.  source

Oh boy…

We all sipped on it through the weekend and let’s just say it wasn’t long before I had an empty bottle to play with  🤣

After the Mod Podge dried, I outlined the shapes and added gold dots with a gold leaf paint pen

Next I painted the glass swirls on the bottle neck

Turquoise and cobalt blue

I gave the stopper a quick coat of a combo of these blues

and added a flower

It loves to hang out on my sketching station

I am sort of crazy about hot pink right now…

What is your favorite spring color?

Juicy Details

I used Mod Podge underneath paper pieces to attach and then painted over them with more Mod Podge to seal.  I let the papers dry overnight and then used a gold leaf paint pen and acrylic glossy paint for details

I used cocktail napkins, gift tissue and découpage paper

You make me want to decopogue which I haven’t done in years. And that whiskey sounds kinda Divine! 😉👍

  3. You’ve got some serious cheer going on there! I love the happy colors and you found some great bottles to work with!

  4. Leslie Anne Tarabella says:

Alcohol and Mod Podge are considered to be a dangerous combination in the hands of a Southern woman. You’ve made us all proud.

  5. You are evoking Matisse Jenna and making me smile ear to ear! Such a fun project.

You come up with the most creative ideas, Jenna! My bottles end up in the recycling bins, and yours are changed into brightly colored works of art. What fun! Happy Easter!

  7. If this isn’t the cutest! A wonderfully unique idea!

  8. Kim says:

It’s not everyday you run across a bottle with pretty designs on it. You lucked out! The rose on the stopper is the cherry on top. Beautiful transition. 🙂

  9. Jenna, I would never think to take a bottle and create something so unique. I see a bottle, you see a piece of art in the making! Happy Easter!

  10. Mary says:

What a fun bottle to repurpose Jenna! I’m more of a Chardonnay girl myself too. P.S. I like your new watermark 🙂

  11. That’s definitely sipping whiskey and I love how you kept the bottle. Now you have a great memory of your weekend all gussied up!

  12. Sandra Garth says:

What’s in the bottle sounds interesting and what you did with it is very pretty.
