Tablescapes, South Pacific

Welcome to day 4 of the Celebrate & Decorate’s Broadway Tablescape Blog Hop!

When Chloe suggested a Broadway themed tablescape blog hop I was thrilled!

Phantom of the Opera… Wicked…West Side Story…My Fair Lady,

These are some of my very favorites, but it was only a moment until my heart knew it would be South Pacific, Rogers & Hammerstein’s award winning musical set in the exotic South Pacific islands during World War II

Read more about this incredible story and show here

The story is dramatic, romantic, funny, and heart wrenching and you leave the theater singing the wonderful songs*

I am an island girl myself, and am lucky enough to spend a lot of time at our little island paradise in the South, a small island on the Alabama Gulf Coast

I already had a lot of the scenery literally right in my own backyard

Plenty of white sugar sand, sunshine, and sea blue views

A time weathered table on a rug mimicking the ocean waves

Hibiscus, pineapples, mangos, palms and flip flops!

This sets the stage for Some Enchanted Evening*

Or a spot for a lot of Happy Talk*

Do you have your ticket yet?

This will get you dinner and a show!

Are you In Love with a Wonderful Guy or Gal*?

Well, if it doesn’t work out you can Wash that Man/Girl Right Outa your Hair* at the outdoor shower behind the bar

You’ve Got to be Carefully Taught* that Bloody Mary will fix you up with a dangerous drink at her Bali Ha’i bar

It will make you feel Younger Than Springtime*

And indulge in too much of her Beachbum Butter Rum Pineapple Volcano Cake!

There is Nothing Like that {a} Dame!*

But luckily what happens in the South Pacific stays in the South  Pacific…

  1. Jenna, you certainly have the perfect setup for the South Pacific theme, and you pulled out ALL the stops – from the tablescape to the bar, to the shower, to the food displays. I love the cake display with the pineapple center, and those floating hibiscus blooms in the serving bowl. Great details in your interpretation, and it can all certainly serve you well through the summer months!

  2. Jenna, You have thought of everything! Yes, South Pacific was perfect for you. I’m going to be singing those songs all day. We sang those in high school chorus so it is an old musical.
You have the perfect setting for an island meal. Love the hibiscus and the hibiscus plates, pineapple bowl and fresh fruit. The cake sounds delicious and how you presented it was so creative! Your text is so creative as always.

  3. Fabulous table, love those hibiscus plates! You have the perfect setting for a South Pacific inspired tablescape, love the references to the songs in the musical. Very clever!!

  4. Jodi says:

Oh how festive!! I’m intrigued with that cake!!!

  5. Jenna, our beautiful Gulf Coast is perfect for your South Pacific Tablescape…I have been looking forward to it since I read that it was your Broadway choice, and you did not disappoint! The floating hibiscus blooms and the plates are so perfect ! The bar set-up looks like it came direct from a South Pacific island, not to mention the shower! The cake presentation is just fabulous and I know it is delicious! You nailed the theme and I just know that “Some Enchanted Evening” will be had by all! Beautiful!

Hi Jenna, You chose the perfect show since you have the perfect spot in paradise! I know the area well and it is dreamy. You didn’t miss anything, the hibiscus blooms, the songs, the theme on the tables screens South Pacific and I adore this! Love the set up downstairs, an amazing post. Simply beautiful. Now I have all those songs in my head to enjoy.

  7. RS says:

So fun and walk down memory lane! I grew up listening to my parent’s album from South Pacific (ok back in the 1960’s). Thank you.

Jenna, you really took the South Pacific theme to the top. You have the perfect setting for this wonderful musical ~ one of my favorites, too. I love how you incorporated the songs into the description of your tablescape. Super fun to ready about your different elements and love all the details.

  10. First off, I am so envious of your wonderful little island paradise! Someday, someday!! This was the perfect setting for a South Pacific themed tablescape. All of the elements you added were the perfect touch to suggest South Pacific! The pineapple in the bundt cake is adorable and I love how you pointed out the shower and the shampoo so Nellie could “wash that man right out of her hair”! Thank you so much for being a part of this blog hop!

  11. Your setting is perfect for this broadway theme. Your very own slice of paradise. Love the tropical look with fruits. The floating hibiscus blooms is lovely.
