The Organized Life, Tropical Summer Finale

Prayers, Prayers and Prayers to all in harm’s way this week…

We will be experiencing lots of rain from hovering Hurricane Harvey and hope the sun will be back shining for Labor Day weekend

My family will be arriving for the long holiday weekend and we will be celebrating the holiday with a Tropical Summer Finale

I want to enjoy my summer dishes one more time before packing them away until next year

We always serve dinner buffet style from the kitchen island so plates, flatware and serving bowls are  arranged ready for use

Pineapple napkins pop up from a Nora Fleming utensil holder with a mini beach ball

A plate stand holds an array of tropical melamine plates

Large tropical bowls are ready for fruit and salad

Cake domes are grouped together ready to be filled with goodies along with small plates, forks and a dessert server

People can help themselves to dessert without venturing too far into the kitchen

The snack station is on the end of the island too, snack jars filled with nuts, cookies and crackers, with watermelon bowls for filling

Having snacks at the end of the island keeps the congestion out of the busy part of the kitchen, away from the cooktop, refrigerator, sink, and ovens

Tropical glasses await evening cocktails

Flatware is easily accessible next to the plates

Keeping seasonal things out in a pretty arrangement is a great way to get maximum enjoyment from them, not to mention it eases up the storage situation!

I keep everyday favorites in the kitchen cabinet and have 2 other large cabinets for overflow, serving pieces, glasses and baskets keep a multitude of things neatly stored within easy reach

So, rain rain go away,

let the sun come out to play,

we want to have a sunny Labor Day!

Love your collection of summer dishes, so perfect for beach living and entertaining. Great organization for everything too. Hard to believe it’s almost Labor Day, where did the summer go. Your weekend family get together sounds wonderful. Not sure what we’ll be doing………..

  4. Looks very festive and organized, Jenna! I’m watching the news continuously, fearing for family very near Houston, getting pounded.
I won’t be participating in the hop, but plan to visit the tablescapes this week. Have fun!

A perfect table for summer entertaining. I can’t believe we’re approaching the last weekend of my favorite season!! Love all your plates and colorful accessories. Here’s hoping and praying that Hovering Hurricane Harvey makes a quick getaway and everyone is safe.

Love your use of color!! Looks so fun and festive – wishing you a sunny weekend too! 🌞🐠🐚

  7. I hope you have a fun Labor Day weekend with your sweet family, Jenna. I am not ready for autumn because I love summer so much! And when I see your pretty summer vignette on your bar, I especially don’t want summer to end!!!!

Trip will be at the UofA game in Atlanta with his fraternity brothers and Shanley Belle will be in Baton Rouge, so Shelley and I will be on our own this Labor Day!

  8. I’m sending you good thoughts for that rain to dry up in time for a fun, relaxing, and carefree Labor Day weekend!

  9. There is always good food at your house and it is served in pretty dishes too.
My husbands elderly aunt and uncle are flooded out of their house in Houston. Staying with a neighbor.

a wonderful summer finale set up – hope the sun comes out to play!

I just love all the colors!

  12. I just love all of your colorful dishes and glasses – it looks like such a happy place to be!! Hoping the sun comes out for your family weekend!

  13. Mary says:

I love your summer finale and tropical dish display Jenna, both fun and functional! I hope the rain is dwindling down your way. Harvey has packed a wallop for the Gulf and especially Houston.

  14. Kim says:

I’m totally with you. I can’t begin fall without a proper send-off to summer, whether it’s in a tablescape or for a simple weekend with family. Since we had three packed weekends these last 3 weeks of birthdays, I plan Labor Day weekend to be labor-less! I love your summer plates – stacked and ready anytime. If I had a coastal home, I’d be tempted to use the tropical decor year-round. 🙂

  16. Jenna, sounds like a great upcoming holiday weekend with your family. I am always sad when I put seasonal tableware away until next year. Your family will be full and happy with this wonderful island chocked full of summer and I am sure the best of food!

  17. Your organizing is looking good with those shelves! And I love your watermelons!

I hope you don’t get too much rain and have a wonderful holiday!
