Tablescapes, Go Wild for Thanksgiving!

I have been going wild not knowing what we were doing for Thanksgiving…

All of a sudden, after decades of tradition, our family was changing

What???

The large group would not be gathering this year…

Well, that’s okay, we can go to the beach, just our family…

Then, DD told me they couldn’t go this year,

and for the first time ever our little family of 4 {plus 5} would be divided…

First time ever, 😢

“hey Mom, I think we might be able to come after all…”

“Really???”

“We can’t come until Thanksgiving night, but we’re coming!”

🍾 Talk about thankful…

No matter where we are, I am always very thankful,

And breaking with tradition doesn’t have to be a bad thing

And it’s always fun to go a little wild…

You know, mix things up

Embrace the unexpected

Shake out the cob webs so to speak

So big or small, 1 or 50, Thanksgiving is part of our American heritage

It doesn’t matter where you are or who you’re with…

What matters is being grateful and thankful to those who came before us to establish this holiday of thanks

The arrangements were easy peasy, red leaf lettuce and artichokes fill a footed bowl for a beautiful vegetable arrangement for a fall table or buffet

Florist foam and several bunches of grocery store flowers look elegant in this decorative ceramic tureen

It’s fun to go wild!

Thanks for dropping by!

  1. When things got wonky with the kids and multiple families I had to get used to the idea that any day can (and should) be Thanksgiving. For a traditionalist, this was a tough sell to myself but I think it’s true, whether I like it or not! Your table looks great and no matter what day you set down to it, I know you will be grateful.

  2. I like your approach to centerpieces AND gatherings. Ours will be different this year, too, but I’m looking at it in a good way. No guilt for any one person having to host, and an opportunity to do something fun (we’re going to Amish country). My husband’s sister who typically hosts is bailing out, and my kids are still not at the point of taking the helm with work schedules and tiny houses, so it’ll be a little getaway for us as a couple. I’m looking forward to it!

  3. Mixing tradition with something new can be fun. And an adventure could become a new tradition. We have much to be grateful for in our lives!!

  4. Jenna, your tables are always beautiful and you certainly have the gift of hospitality! Even though there might be a break in your traditional Thanksgiving, it might be a fun change. You always look at the brighter side. So whenever you eat the wonderful Thanksgiving meal, it will be full of love and memories!

    • Thank you Pam, and don’t get too worn out cooking for your family, even though I know it is a labor of love, that is a lot of work! I am so lucky to have my son as head chef these days, let’s me be a little lazy 🙂

Hi Jenna – you are the master of table setting, I love the large ceramic vase/bowl.

    • Thank you Sharon, I’m sure it has a fancy name, but I’m not good at the decorator lingo~it’s one of my very favorite pieces and I haven’t ever thought to put flowers in it before.

Will try this. Let me know if it works. ~ Sarah

So happy for you! I know you were adjusting to the change, but now you will all be together! Your centerpiece is lovely. The container just the perfect height for dining. Have fun with your dear family. Making memories is what we all need to do everyday! >

I love your creative style, Jenna! 🎨👍 You have a beautiful home and I’m glad your family will be with you to celebrate Thanksgiving. I miss my mom who has passed – she always put on such a feast! But it was getting together that made it special. 🍁💕

Marmeladegyspy said it all! Going wild can be fun and breaking tradition with the ones you love could lead to something marvelous. Your table is beautiful and I was immediately drawn to the candle lanterns and the buffalo check tablecloth.

So pretty, and I like the graphic elements! All the tablescapes are so pretty. Y’all will have to blow it out on Black Friday, then. I’m happy everything worked out!

  10. Ann Krucek says:

This is fun and unexpected!!! So how nice that you will be celebrating it with family after all. It’s a blessing for sure, one more thing to be thankful about!! Enjoy!!

    • Thank you Ann, I guess I probably have sounded whiney about this, I am so lucky because I get to see my children and grandchildren all the time, so I guess I was pouting…I am spoiled! Thank you for the kind words~

  12. Join the club I’ve been in for a while now. This year it looks like we’re spending Thanksgiving home alone but like you said it’s about being Thankful for those who came before us. Glad to know you have updated plans that include some of the family. I like your “Go Wild” table setting!

    • Oh, thank you Liz…I know I am spoiled to have my family near me most of the time, I am sure it’s not easy spending this holiday at home alone, but hopefully there will be a family gathering during the holidays. I know a lot of people who do friends Thanksgiving and that sounds like a lot of fun!

  13. Mary says:

I know you’re thrilled to have your family all together this Thanksgiving Jenna! We’re celebrating with family the Saturday of Thanksgiving weekend this year, so I need to put my thinking cap on and figure out what we want to do on turkey day. Love your ‘go wild’ table and flower arrangement ♥

  14. So happy to hear that they can still come. Holidays are a hundred times better surrounded by family. Loving your table, the animal print is gorgeous!

  15. I am loving your “wild side” what a beautiful table! … Yes, as the kids get older with their families, etc it seems like they have to either split their times among family or work commitments get in the way…but you have a wonderful attitude about it and seems like your family will move mountains to be together for Holidays….

Finally I am getting caught up on favorite posts. Your table ideas are great and the best part will be those who gather around.
