Fearless Friday, Back to the Drawing Board

Hectic holidays make the peace of the New Year so welcome

I couldn’t wait to get back into my art routine of daily drawing

Nothing makes me happier than my tray of markers, pencils and pens…

just looking at it makes me smile, a buffet of possibilities!

I heard someone say that you shouldn’t make a New Year’s Resolution, you should make a New Year’s commitment…so this little sketch represents my New Year’s commitment

I want to embrace every moment…

Even waking up to 23 degrees and no running water  ❄️ 😳 ❄️

I made some other commitments too, involving health and fitness,

but this one is for my mental health, as is daily sketching

This flower  began with a line sketch,

followed by the addition of watercolor brush pen strokes

and now blended

Next, softening and adding color with colored pencils

I really exaggerated the colors and tones

Adding dimension with line

Just let your pen go, and see what grows…

Flower Power!

Have you made any resolutions or commitments for 2018?

Your artwork is always so lovely Jenna. And yes, a lot to be said for getting back to a routine after traveling and the holidays. Love your flower power and Rain or Shine. A great way to start the day with these. Yes, I have made my commitments, same as yours for health and fitness. Hope your water is back! Have a great weekend, hope it’s warmer at the beach that here……….

  5. You are so talented!! Awesome new designs. We are at 11 degrees, but we do have water. Hope yours is back on soon.

Your flower reminds me of those in my courtyard with all the pretty variations in color. No resolutions here….but I like organizing, so purging more ‘stuff’ is a likely goal – selling, donating or gifting. No water running and water seeping into a house are two very real issues. Hope yours thawed without breaks. I know it’s been very unusual weather for those of you further south, but I’ve been accustomed to leaving my laundry/mudroom exterior wall cabinets open at night to keep warm air circulating around my pipes when it’s this bitterly cold.

  7. I pulled out my pencils, markers and water brushes the other day – I need lots of practice!!!

  9. I love it when you go to the drawing board! It both motivates and inspires me!

  10. Grateful to have you share your drawings Jenna! Happy New Year of creativity and mental health!

I love the rose. Which watercolor pencils due you use? Like best???

    • I use mostly prismacolor, that I’ve had forever…I use them mainly with marker or pen, rarely by themselves. I do have some inktense but haven’t spent the time really playing with them…I know they’re your favorite. I have a serious addiction to art supplies right now, I keep buying stuff, it’s awful!!

Love your New Year’s commitment Jenna and the budding and blooming possibilities for a New Year! Hope you’re warm & cozy. ♥

Hello Jenna and Happy New Year. The flower you made is so nice and colorful. Yes now that the holidays are over we call all be more creative. I need to get back to my painting lessons. Thanks for sharing at C&C with J&J.
    Enjoy the week.
