Take-out Tuesday, Cinnamon Roll Surprise

We enjoyed these decadent and delicious sausage cinnamon rolls New Year’s Day

A cooked sausage link wrapped in sweet cinnamon roll dough drizzled with creamy icing

ummmmmm….pretty hard to resist!

Pillsbury Cinnamon Roll Grands, 5 to a can were rolled out a bit and flattened

This part was a little tricky sticky and best result came with just using fingers

Now here’s the good part, we cut them in half

Not exactly guilt free, but less guilty than eating a whole giant roll!

And here is the really good part, the sausage links are baked in the oven while you are preparing dough and sipping coffee, so all you have to do is roll them up and pop them in the oven for a few minutes

Modern art!

They were definitely hard to resist!

One little boy I know ate 4!

this recipe was adapted from the Food Network

Cinnamon Roll Surprise

Prep Time 20 minutes
Cook Time 15 minutes
Course Breakfast, Brunch
Cuisine American
Servings 10 rolls

Ingredients

  • 1 can 5 rolls, Pillsbury Grands Cinnamon Rolls with icing
  • 10 sausage links
  • maple or blueberry syrup optional

Instructions

  • Place sausage on a parchment lined baking sheet and bake at 400 degrees for 15 minutes, turning halfway through cooking to brown evenly if possible. Drain on paper towels
  • Meanwhile, separate rolls and carefully flatten out into a large circle of dough. For best results use your fingers, as dough will be sticky.
  • Cut dough in half. Place a cooked link on each dough half and roll up as well as possible to enclose link in dough.
  • Bake on lined baking sheet at 375 for 15 minutes until golden. Drizzle with reserved can icing and serve immediately. Makes 10 rolls.

Notes

You can provide syrup for dipping if you like but not necessary
Keyword blueberry breakfast bake, blueberry brunch casserole, cinnamon rolls, sausage rolls, sausage stuffed cinnamon rolls

Enjoy!
