The Organized Life, Small Space Solutions

Are you cleaning and purging and organizing and dieting and exercising and reading more and sleeping more and doing all the standard New Year’s resolution things???

hmmmm…

Even though I have a laundry list of things I want to do this winter,

if art is involved it’s a labor of love and I’ll jump right on it!

Now that I am at our beach house so much more, I really miss my large studio space

And it’s been too cold to paint on the porch

with my “portable studio” cart

I  had to get very creative and find a spot inside to work…

I have a designated spot now, by a comfy chair

where I can paint with my watercolor brush pens and create to my heart’s content with markers, pens and pencils

I swapped a non functional side table for a low wooden one with more surface area,

and then did a little shopping

Oh goodness, the ease of Amazon prime…

What did we do before internet shopping and Amazon prime?

I found this flat lazy susan for $11, it fits perfectly under my tray of markers

Now with the touch of a finger it magically spins so I can easily reach what I want

HH loves to ask me if I have enough pens

“No!”

😄

I also got a portable desk

It has rolling wheels and is height adjustable so I can easily move it and and use it in different spots

It’s just the right size for my laptop and a sketch book or drawing tablet

Oh and I almost forgot, see that empty can between the tissue box and the markers?

I took  Zentangle black paper squares and decoupaged it

I used a toffee can, mod podge, shells, glass beads and twine to create a funky holder for additional brushes, markers or supplies

I left the original can parts of the telephone booth,

British soldier and Big Ben uncovered because I liked them,

and covered the rest of the bare areas and seams with sand dollars and glass beads

it also works as a mini trash can

It’s very handy!

I wish you much success with your New Year’s resolutions!

Even though HH might beg to differ, I think your newly added ‘tools’ are brilliant solutions for organizing your smaller beach house ‘studio’. I love that lazy susan.

  2. Good space saves! I’m glad you kept part of the can as-is; it’s such a great can! A lazy susan is the best, isn’t it? And that portable desk is very cool! Nice and convenient for you!

  3. Looking forward to see what you create in your new little portable studio!!

  4. Jodi says:

  5. Looks great Jenna. I needed the inspiration!! Enjoy your week!

Lots of fun ways for storage and making art. Great ideas Jenna.

Had to laugh at the New Years Resolutions, lol, you know us all too well! Love the creative toffee can redo and I like that you left sections of the original graphics, too cool! That Lazy Susan is tempting me.😉 Stay warm, sorry that you have no water.

There is something about an organized art space that just makes my heart happy. I’m going to check into the lazy susan for mine- what a great idea! Everything looks so good.

    • I loved the lazy susan so much I immediately bought another one! They are great to use for projects too, if you’re painting or decoupaging a vase or something you can spin it rather than having to touch it to move it. Have fun Robyn!

  9. Jenna, I think your rolling art space is fabulous and you are so neat and organized! I know wonderful projects will be created and hopefully you will share them. Stay warm, it is bone chilling cold!

I love the portable desk from Amazon. Is it sturdy if you lean on it? I had a similar one but if I leaned on it, it wobbled. Hated it.

  11. Linda says:

You look quite organized Jenna. Being portable has it’s advantages.Well, I am not following all of those New year’s resolutions…LOL i have been quite busy with my mom and also designing blogs.

I need to get my art studio organized. Again. Seriously, I have stuff I know I’ll never use, and I need to take it to the local elementary school and let them enjoy it!

You’re an inspiration! I could get more done if my husband could get down Oak Mountain, but it isn’t happening today! ;P

Such clever and creative solutions Jenna and I love you decorated around the fun British graphics on the TJ’s can. I think Amazon loses money on our Prime membership 🙂 I hope your water has been restored! Stay warm & cozy with your new desk. ♥

Jenna, wow, a great way to organize everything you need in one place. The desk and lazy susan really are so functional for your needs along with room for your laptop. Of course I love the decoupage 🙂 I’ve been organizing and trying to keep the inspiration going until I finish the entire house. My NY’s resolution……

Love all your ideas – especially the lazy susan!! You make creating an art in itself! So colorful and fun! YAY Jenna!! ❤️💙💚

I love the “finders keepers” rack with the little buckets! I need to make one for my hubby so he will stop tossing small items on the top of the dryer for me to find.
