Holidays, Mother’s Day Brunch

Will you be celebrating Mother’s Day next Sunday?

Mine will be quiet, with just HH

We are so lucky that our children live near by, we get to see them all the time

They all will be busy with end of the school year parties and activities next weekend,

so we will have a quiet Sunday on the coast

Believe it or not, even though I post a lot of decadent recipes,

HH & I are pretty light eaters,

and we  don’t like big heavy breakfasts…

I do love this Sunny Side Up Breakfast Salad

We prefer just a few small bites of something…

I thought it would be fun to round up some of our favorite bites, full of breakfast and brunch flavors packed in a small bite or two…

An assortment of these would make a terrific brunch spread, and a way to sample many different dishes!

Creamsicle Mimosas make a nice bubbly start to any special day, orange sherbet in a glass of champagne

If you prefer a Bloody Mary, try this BLT Bloody Mary

It’s a meal in itself!

Pineapple Cocktails

You can make these with or without alcohol, they are so pretty and refreshing

Add fresh fruit and a squeeze of citrus to sparkling water or club soda to make a festive spritzer

Grapefruit Spritzer

Baby Ham & Cheezee Bites are a tasty treat, and pretty healthy too

Made with grated zucchini instead of flour, with eggs and a scant amount of bread crumbs to bind them

Make them ahead of time and stash them in the freezer

Hash Brown Muffins 4 Ways

These are so versatile, you can make them with potatoes only, potatoes and cheese, potato shell with a baked egg, or a quiche-like muffin with ham, cheese and green onion

Savory Brioche Bites with Raspberry Mustard

Sweet brioche rolls, stuffed with ham and raspberry mustard with extra mustard on the side for dipping

Derby Day Biscuits

Easy to make, using prepared biscuits and sweet orange rolls, they whip up in no time

Tomato Canapés with Bacon Chive Aioli

This is one of my all time favorites, and always a hit at any gathering

Bacon, Bleu & Fig Toast Squares

Not a pretty photo, but I had to include them because they are last minute easy and always gobbled up

Romaine Spoons with Pear Compote

Light and refreshing

Baby Beignets with Coconut Syrup,

You won’t believe easy and good these are!

Blueberry Almond Pastries with Coconut Drizzle

Lemon Mini Muffins

My very new favorite! 🍋

Fruit Pastries with Almond Cream

You can make these with any fruit or combination you like

2 Bite Cherry Pies

White Chocolate Raspberry Angel Wings

In honor of moms, who are angels!

Bacon Roses

These “roses” make a wonderful garnish or bite to pair with one of the above sweet rolls

Whether you’re having a party or just want to enjoy a brunch bite or two, these will be welcomed any time!

  1. Jenna, what a fabulous round-up of brunch bites. Would you pass me all the sweet stuff, and a couple of beignets, please? Happy Sunday~

This is my kind of food! It all look so good. No plans for Mother’s Day here….I have two sisters whose birthdays fall next weekend, and it always seems to be such a busy weekend, as you say, with kids’ year-end activities, etc. Having a quiet day sounds quite nice.

    • Thanks Rita, I am going to enjoy this quiet week before I head back to “the city” for a whirlwind of birthday parties, baseball, and recitals. I guess May was indeed a busy month when you were growing up with 2 sisters having birthdays! My son’s boys were born May 11 and May 14 so they always have 1 joint party which makes it easier on everyone 🙂

My family is celebrating Mother’s Day on Saturday instead of Sunday this year. We are also celebrating my youngest daughter’s birthday, that was on May 3rd. This started the year that she became a Mother. This year we chose to do a cook-out instead of going to a restaurant. Your yumalicious recipes will be perfect appetizers and desserts! Hope your Mother’s Day is splendiferous. Thank-you, from all of us!

    • Oh Ellen it sounds like you will have a great Mother’s day! We much prefer gathering at home, it’s just not the same in a restaurant, and a cook out sounds perfect! Thanks for your sweet comment!

Thank you, Jenna, for ALL the wonderful tidbits. I’m going to scroll through this post slowly, and make a list of all the things I want to try. Li’l bites are my favorite way of eating, and you’ve given us so many ideas!! Have a great Mother’s Day! Our final plans aren’t completed yet, but I’m sure there WILL be food involved! Rosie

  7. No mother’s day for me but these would be good any time!

  8. Jenna… this is my kind of brunch. I LOVE an egg on my salad!! And those bloody mary’s look delish. Hope you have a great week.

  9. I completely forgot the opportunity to make sherbet mimosas!!! You have put a lot of delicious ideas in my head. Bad for my weight loss plans!!!

Thank you for rounding up some of your favorite drinks and small bites, Jenna! I think I could go for one of those creamsicle mimosas, and some raspberry angel wings right about now. Enjoy your time on the coast at your heavenly spot!

Everything looks so good. Look at those adorable bacon roses! Now that is too cute. My three daughters all live close by too. We talk every day….sometimes too many times a day. (LOL!) We have dinner every Sunday too. Usually for Mother’s day we still gather for lunch after church and then in the afternoon they spend time with their mothinlove’s. We may change things up a bit this year. Happy Mother’s Day to you dear lady. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  14. Mary says:

Little bites are our favorite way to nosh Jenna! Everything looks delicious. ♥

  15. So many mouth watering treats I need all of them. Especially the mimosas for this afternoon. Looks so good!
