The Organized Life, August Paint Bucket

August already???

School starts back in early to mid August in Alabama, so when the calendar hits August 1, it really feels like summer is over…the heat will stick around until October though, and our markets and grocery stores are still full of fresh summer produce

Blueberries are still in abundance at great prices so

the Flavor of the Month for August is

Blueberry

Not only do blueberries taste delicious, they are so versatile and can be used in a variety of recipes both sweet and savory.  Did you know that blueberries are incredibly good for you as well?

Here are the top seven health benefits of blueberries:

  1. High in Antioxidants
  2. Help Fight Cancer
  3. Amp Up Weight Loss
  4. Boost Brain Health
  5. Alleviate Inflammation
  6. Support Digestion
  7. Promote Heart Health

So let’s eat some blueberries this month!

Here’s what I made from the July Paint Bucket

The flavor of the month was Pineapple  🍍

We enjoyed so many pineapple goodies!

Pineapple Smoothie from Listotic turned into my version of a Pineapple Smoothie Cocktail

Glazed Pineapple Kielbasa Bites from Complete Recipes and BBQ Chicken, Bacon & Pineapple Kabobs from Butter with a Side of Bread were the inspiration for these mouthwatering

Sweet Chili Teriyaki Chicken, Pineapple  & Sausage Kebabs

Bacon Wrapped Hot Dogs with Pineapple Salsa  was inspired by Spiralized Onion & Pineapple Salsa from the Painted Apron archives

We love Sweet Potato Nachos and had them over the 4th holiday weekend

Peach & Bacon Pizza and the Peach & Walnut Salad from Food Network magazine, July,

inspired this Peach of a Salad

Ritzy Vidalia Onion Pie was inspired by Cheddar & Ritz Vidalia Onion Pie from Turnips 2 Tangerines

Crazy Good 3 Cheese Zucchini Pie was the result of a different interpretation of Chicken, Zucchini & Fresh Corn Burgers from the Cafe Sucre Farine

Mississippi Sin Ham Sliders from A Family Feast  are definitely sinful sliders!

I changed the recipe up a bit by adding a mustard sauce for my version of Sinful Sliders

BBQ Chicken & Pineapple Wrap is adapted from Hawaiian BBQ Chicken Wrap from It Tastes Better from Scratch

Strawberry Bundt Cake from Paula Deen was the inspiration for Fresh Strawberry Bundt Cake

You’ve got to try the glaze for this cake, only 2 ingredients, sweetened condensed milk and strawberry jam

Another flavor filled month!

Thank you for your visit, I hope it was mouthwatering!

  1. Love to read your monthly lists! They are so inspiring.

  2. Jenna, I loved your pineapple offerings and can’t wait for the blueberry recipes. Blueberry biscuits are calling my name! It has rained 4 inches at my house since yesterday afternoon.

    • We are drowning on the coast too! I hope it’s not too much rain for your beautiful garden…since I can’t go outside today I will be playing with the 2 pints of blueberries in my refrigerator!
