Views from the Porch #3

As summer winds down, I want to share some of the things I saw from the porch

The back porch at the beach house is my favorite spot, it sits on a coastal waterway that parallels the Gulf of Mexico

I love to sit there and read, draw, paint, and just enjoy the view…

Sometimes other artists join me

The waterway is a no wake zone, boats must use idle speed and slowly pass by on their way to and fro

Depending on the way the wind is blowing or not blowing, sometimes you can even hear people talking on boats that aren’t even that close by

You will hear all kinds of music playing and see colorful flags flying

When the weather is nice, I can sit here all day and be entertained not only by boats,

but by Mother Nature herself, there is always something to see!

I zoomed in on a parasail that was floating on the rainbow

Here’s another parasailing group that looked like they were about to land on a large US Coast Guard ship

It was hazy that day…

One of our neighbors just got this big red boat, wow,…he must be a Bama fan!

My jaw did drop when I saw the name on this one

I hope it means “We’re Total Fishermen!”   😂

Dolphin cruises are frequent in these waters, and we see dolphin gracefully swimming through the waters

How about this crazy boat

It causes a lot of double takes!

Our adopted {he adopted us} blue heron, Freddy, is usually around somewhere

When it’s quiet he will sneak a drink from the pool

This sailor had to make some adjustments before he could go under the bridge

He pulled over to the shore and lowered his mast, isn’t that handy!

We often get a private air show from the Blue Angels

They are based in nearby Pensacola and fly right over our house when they are practicing

It is a breath taking sight

It’s beautiful to watch the charter fishing boats heading out into the Gulf in the mornings

And this of course, is a favorite view

Ready-Set-Go!

Do you have plans for Labor Day weekend?

My sister in law and all her children and grandchildren will be joining us, 11 children and 12 adults, but for once I’m not cooking!  I’m going to sit back and enjoy the chaos!

Thanks so much for stopping by…

What a great place! Sounds like it’s both crazy and quiet, depending on the season and day. I enjoyed all that your view has to offer. I hope your weekend will be calming and nurturing, Jenna. I think ours will be quiet.

What a happy place for you to enjoy, Jenna! I always love seeing pics of your grands having fun. Sounds like you’ll be busy for Labor Day, and I’m glad you’re not cooking!

  9. Cyndi Raines says:

What an awesome spot! It would be my favorite place too. Anytime I can look at or be in the water, I am totally happy. All your pictures were fun to view, but I had a big smile for the ready- set-go shot and laughed out loud at your dare-devil youngest grandson. I bet he is totally fearless! 😃 They all are very cute and I am sure they love coming to your house. I know I would! You always seem to have some fun event going on. Happy Labor Day and I am glad you will rest from your labor!

    • ha ha, thanks Cyndi, yes Charlie Brown is fearless, unfortunately! He is always trying to keep up with the older ones. We do have an awesome spot that is so special to our family

Enjoy your loved ones! Your grands are darling, and welcomed company, I’m sure.
    Thinking of you,

So much entertainment from your porch Jenna! I would love to watch the sky shows from both the Blue Angels and the parasailing. I laughed out loud at that VW bus-pontoon and “We’re Total Fishermen” 🙂 People are so creative…those are VW enthusiasts, down to a motor cover! Isn’t it amazing how sound and voices carry over the water. We’ve been privy to a lot of conversations from across the pond.

I know your grands love spending time swimming, fishing and as budding artists. You’re creating wonderful memories for them. ♥

    • I have heard some amazing things, especially from the Dolphin boat captains, they point to a house and say such and such celebrity lives there, totally making stuff up! My grands love this place as much as the adults do, if they haven’t been in a while even the youngest starts asking his parents when are they going to the beach and a boat ride 🙂

  12. Jenna, what beautiful and interesting views. Some of those remind me of “only in Alabama” LOL I am so glad you will have a full house during the Labor Day holiday. The grands are so cute!

  13. I think I love your porch! Love the no-wake (wish we had that here!) and dolphins, boat-watching, art and rainbows! Beautiful in every way.

Oh my goodness girl. I felt like I was there on your back porch too. WOW! What a wonderful blessing to have such a beautiful view. Well….I am hopes those letters on the boat stand for something else too! Hmm…….The kiddos are beautiful. You are blessed lady. Hugs and blessings, Cindy

  15. Shelia says:

I have been sharing some of your shots from your porch all along, but it was nice to have a post devoted to the particular views you chose. The rainbow is without a doubt my a favorite. Thanks for sharing these–to quote Scarlett, sometimes I am just “pea green with envy” for your perch that allows you a beautiful daily view of the water and what’s happening. But your sharing mellows me right out, cause I get a peek too. Enjoy the week, and thanks for blogging for all of us who don’t have a coastal view.

    • Thank you Shelia, I’ve lived near one coast or the other all my life, the water is in my blood I guess, it feels like home. I’ve seen some crazy stuff through the years!

  16. What a heavenly spot you have. I am afraid I wouldn’t get anything done, I would just sit there and watch the passing view all day!

  17. Lorraine says:

So fabulous! I loved this post! The parasailor in the rainbow…so cool!

  18. thefrenchhutch says:

Sorry I’m late, a little behind here. Jenna, you know how I love the beach. Living there would be paradise! Enjoy your family and no cooking and have a wonderful Labor Day weekend…….

  19. Jill Kuhn says:

My hubby got a laugh too of some of your boat photos…I told him our next pontoon boat was the yellow VW bus! Lol! 😂 Looks like such a fun place to enjoy your family, Jenna! 💗 And I enjoyed seeing the photos of the “visiting” artists! 🎨👍
