Fearless Friday, Scribble Art

This is a super fun thing to try, and even if you don’t think you can draw, try this!

It’s called “Scribble Art” and is basically just a bunch of controlled scribbling!

I used this gorgeous Red Apple by Jane Palmer for my model

Begin with a simple line sketch

Don’t worry if you don’t get it right at first, you can change and adjust it as you go

Now start scribbling by using short curly strokes and lines

You can’t mess this up because you can just scribble over anything you don’t like!

The red arrow is pointing to the shape adjustment I made to the apple

Using your model as a shade guide, add the most scribbles to the darkest areas, leaving the mid tones and highlights with less

It’s almost magical watching your scribbling turn into something recognizable!

I decided my apple needed a buddy and found this yellow apple painting by Karen O’neil

I struggled getting the shape and size right, see all the lines?

But when you see the completed apples, you think the adjustment lines are just part of the entire scribble

Now let’s color!

I used shades of red, orange, yellow and green markers to color the apples

I softened some of the areas with colored pencils

This is lots of fun, I hope you will try scribbling!  It will bring back your fearless inner child!

And remember, ALWAYS SOURCE your photos, recipes, information,  use inspirations from others, but always give them the credit they deserve!!

Scribble On and Be Fearless!!

The apples were inspired by the monthly challenge going on at Doodlewash this month, 31 things to paint & sketch in October.  I am hoping to join in often, it’s lots of fun, and so interesting to see how the prompts are interpreted!
